(Malaysian Mirror) - Dealing with bureacracy is frustrating. One can put up with it, complain in the hope things will improve or as in the case of one person, vent on YouTube.

A young man from Muar who caused a national furore with his rap video Negarakuku in 2007 is taking out his frustration with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) in a very public way.

Wee Meng Chee or Namewee figures you can't get any more public than the worldwide audience of YouTube.

Blowing his top

His outburst followed a blackout in Muar that caused him to lose a new song he was composing on his computer. Wee said his younger brother's revision for an examination the next day was also hampered by the blackout.

The rapper stormed into the Tenaga Nasional branch in Muar and started hurling abusive language at the workers after he was unable to get someone from the utility company to answer his phone calls for the 10th time.

The tirade was made into a short film and put on YouTube. The clip and variations of it have since attracted over 700,000 views.

Ministry to probe incident

Sin Chew Daily quoted Information, Communications, Culture and Arts Ministry’s secretary-general Kamaruddin Siaraf as saying that Tenaga Nasional could take action against Wee if it feels that the film had damaged its image.

He said his ministry was investigating the incident involving Wee at the Muar branch.

What is happening here is larger than just an freedom-loving artist going balistic over a situation which we are used to but should not. What Namewee did is exercise full civil liberty of free societies which we in Malaysia do not practise or are not used to. By comparison of artists and other civil libertarian in other countries, his actions are mild. If you are watch the video carefully, he was not the one who crossed the line in public first. When he complained, its not their job or right to warn or threatened him - their job is service and answer his question no matter how mad he is. He just did not tolerate it and gave it back and more. That is a microsm what happens when the authorities break their own law and institutions have no credibility.

What Namewee is showing here is a glimpse into OUR FUTURE.. This is why Hindraf came about, this is why people are leaving the country, this is why if you read through this post and you hear the debate slowly going to his favour.

Namewee is a gifted political artist. A talented young man. He is not as simple as he appears. THIS IS A GOOD THING...

Anger does not give youthe right to shout and throw vulgarity to everyone. A simple and polite approach would have result in a better solution. It is frustrating to be in blackout without notice but go thru the proper channel.

Think... if your house are having Electricity brake down for 3 days a week... And TNB HU~HA~! with their own backup power (where the people is paying for it).

Maybe he is Kurang ajar... for being in Taiwan so long...... But, in Taiwan.. Power Brake down is a BIG issue. As he said, a develop country with power down is a serious problem.

Think back to Malaysia,

I think the guy think that he have created enough stir in the country and he is "Big Taiko" now since no action taken against him.

TNB maybe on wrong side but the way he behave is also too much. I dont think i can answer to him nicely if we start using abusive word to me.

This Moron Namawee......think he is a "taiko".....really had enuf of this guy.....breakdown may happens sometimes..wats so pissed...hurling abused at the poor staff of TNB...not as if TNB wants the breakdown.......really cannot stand his vulgarity......excessively done....

He would have earn more sympathy if he had conducted himself properly. What an ass. He would have earn more sympathy from all races is he had conducted himself properly. Wouldn't it be more effective that way.

Now, UMNO has an excuse to discriminate against chinese. Saying Chinese has no respect for the country. Why want to give UMNO even a small chance to create fire.

WE HAVE TO BE MORE DISCIPLINE THAN THIS. IF WE WANT TO BEAT UMNO.

Namewee vending his anger at TNB is quite excessive in this case.....

Perhaps I am not in Namewee shoe, so can not share his frustration, having lost his works halfway. When there was no response on many phone calls from TNB made matters worse.

As clarified by TNB, this is not maintainance, its power failure. While TNB will have to make sure public can access to get clarification, Namewee outburst is not acceptable.

Both namewee and the tnb staffs are 'dua kali lima' (2x5) , namewee couldnt differentiate between an outage caused by a failure and a maintenance failure.

The former cannot be expected while the later is scheduled.

The tnb jokers added fuel to the fire, not only did they conducted themselves unprofessionally ( although I can understand why - pun intended) instead of being 'sabar' and tryingto explain to this hot headed namewee (I think he intentionally did it) the difference between a schedule outage and an unexpected breakdown outage.

Again... The minister shows their one sidedness of handling matters regarding the public interest... Instead of making statement that the case will be investigated to determine if Wee has breached a law; or that TNB needs to be penalized for that attitude/lack of responsibility,,, They straight away concluded that TNB can take action against Wee... Then WHAT ABOUT US? CAN WE TAKE ACTION AGAINST TNB OR THE GOVERNMENT FOR THAT LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY? For poor services, etc?

TNB, TELEKOM (streamyx), LAP.... are all bullshit.

We are paying them everyday (month) and yet... what we get back is a bad services. We probably have the WORST services in developing country...

As i said, 3rd class technology with 1st class price, with 4th class maintenance. Taiwan's ISP are running on 100X faster, and cost 10X lower then local. Vietnam/Philippine have better equipment then us. Are we really Developing???

TNB could take action against Namewee? For what lah? For using expletives? That's his choice lah. You don't want to use bad words, well and good. If the young man wants to use it, that's his prerogative. Or is it for being an irate customer who feels that he has been shortchanged? Isn't he an irate customer who feels he has been shortchanged? Sue him for that? Sheeeesssshhhhh! Sikit-sikit mau take action. Sikit-sikit mau take action. Sensitif tak tentu pasal. Ataupun malu sebab 1Malaysia is laughing/jeering.snickering at TNB because they all agree with Namewee? Please lah...just do a good job in the service and no videos like this would ever be posted on Youtube.

There was a time when i wanted to put in a tender to supply tools and the supplier of the tools told me that he would pullout his eyeball if i could that tender.See how corrupted it is.The reason for the frequent breakdown is because of cheap products supplied by their cronies at highly marked up prices.I know of a director of TELEKOM who takes home cases full of money EVERYDAY.That's how all the GLC's operate in this country.

All customers will kick up a fuss when faces this type of situation.
The only main difference is that NameWee hoist it up in the internet .
Tnb is a monopoly business, how will it be ever affected when it is a monopoly business?
NameWee and the restof the Muar folks will still have to use electricity from Tiu Nia Bu ( tnb).
Some of us failed to see the message. His fuss started when nobody picks up his call and his visit to the tnb showed how "professional" tnb's people are handling it.
This is a case of customer complain .
The minister is wrong for trying to protect tnb.

TNB is worried about its image. Another RM20 million to APCO Worldwide, problem kautim! The MCMC is going to drop Namewee from the 44th floor of Menara TNB - just to show it's more aggressive than MACC in defending Ketuanan Melayu smilies/grin.gif

Typical 3rd world mentality. Instead of apologizing for LOUSY SERVICE...wanna hantam the complainant! Same with the PKFZ fiasco - instead of arresting those responsible (no matter how BIG they think they are), the gomen goes after the whistleblowers.

mmmmmmmm.......... Yes, some TNB phone lines were even no longer in service, not nobody answer.
We must accept that M'sia is not a developed country YET, other wise we dont have to see so many nonsense/dramas act by the country's leaders, corruption, murders....

BUT, young man 'wee' should learn to control your anger & language......cant blame you, may be you are not matured yet, but dnt be silly, using those 4 letter-words are embarassing to yourself & family only.

** Najib & the adminstration should stop those corrupted projects & masuk poket the commisions if any, think of the poor rakyat, why are they govt servants accept bribe? If you the govt take k of their salary, then they dont have to struggle so hard.

juvenile ill-mannered and not helpful.
If the grievances are legitimate, present it assertively - not insultingly (only reflects the upbringing by your parents)

However there certainly is a culture of non-performance, or performance designed to elicit duit kopi - not only in TNB, but also in the immigration, the police force, and of course, our absolutely pathetic justice systems with 10-15 years case backlog.

Isn't it true that our ministers polite falsehoods in promising these & that end up to fattening more bank accounts of cronies with sub standard or no positive results delivered. Such outcomes are worst than this guy behaviour. Besides,Why so many breakdowns?? Where is preventive maintenance. Using sub standard parts!!!!

Really buying 2nd hand nuclear generator?? If TNB have billions in profit why not get new & latest?? I suppose more maintenance, more money to be made by UMNO cronies.

THE INCOMPETENCE OF TNB IS due to UMNO regime who is afraid of the word MERITOCRACY...

check out all the list of top officers in TNB, all 100% of them are Malays from UMNO appointed mediocre graduates and managers ..

Starting with Che Khalib, so called Accountant with a magic touch, voted CEO of the year for year 2007... BULLSHIT.... CEO of the year for the Malays only from the previleged ketuanan melayu.

He said, that TNB prices will hit RM17 bucks, instead it plummetted to 7 bucks ha ha ha

and why not? TNB is good for dishing out fat contracts to the UMNO cronies without going thru open tender.

And most of the contracts are nevere performed well, delayed or substandard works as all the profits are already skimmed by the Tansris from UMNO regime.

TNB may announce millions of profit KONON but thats only PEANUTs compaired to its capital assets which are in trillions. ALL FUNDED by taxpayers money...

so what is so private about TNB when it was the rakyats money which was used to set it up in the first place, AND THE MANAGEMENT IS ALL CONTROLED BY THE USELSES MALAYS, MOSTLY UITM GRADUATES... ha ha ha ha ha

I think you should give RM 10 - RM 20 so the TNB bustards will do the job for you. Most of the technician collect and they are really cheap since they said they have low salary and big family to served. So guys the next time you meet this situation, give some ' minum kopi ' to them. I'm one of the electrical contractor which always met these kind of problem in LAHAT, IPOH. Many complains forwarded to their senior officer but no action taken by the high rank. I think ' minum kopi ' will solve it. Cheap, cheap TNB . Kasi malu seja.... smilies/angry.gif

You know what? Those goons at TNB can't even handle simple operations. . .,yet they are now bent towards using nuclear to generate electricity. Yes, nuclear! And the nuclear generator going to be purchased with a price tag of billions of RM is a 2nd hand one from France (sounds familiar?). Imagine if they can't handle the existing operations, what would happen if they operate a nuclear power plant?

If TNB is made up of incompetent staff, then just inform us the general public that TNB is made up of lousy and incompetent people so that Malaysians would not blame TNB in future for black-out ! We will understand your predicament because you are staffed with mediocre and stupid staff. Blackout seldom occurs in developed country but it is very common in third world countries especially in malaysia. So just admit you incapability and we will all just shake our heads when there is a blackout ! The people of Muar should curse and sue TNB n the BN Govt for the inconsistent service and any other financail losses attributing to this disruption.
