Malaysian Digest - Member of Parliament (MP) for Shah Alam Khalid Samad said today that one of the main challenges of PAS is in the convincing of the way Islam without imposing it on societies.

In his talk on PAS: Rising to New Challenges organised by Malaysian Digest, Khalid also stressed on the importance of PAS to be more sensitive to other races and religions.

“To convince people of Islam is an ongoing process. Islam cannot be imposed on societies,” Khalid said during the event held at Killiney Sooka Sentral here last Friday.

“PAS should not force the society to do what we want. Instead, we have to convince the people first,” he added.

He also talked about the challenges in overcoming the overwhelming control UMNO / BN has over the mainstream media.

“We have outperformed UMNO in Selangor but all our achievements in Selangor have been completely blacked out by the mainstream media. We just need to get the message across in other ways,” he said.

Khalid added that PAS / Pakatan Rakyat’s achievements must be conveyed in an old-fashioned manner and they are willing to go to the extent of going door to door.

On Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s trial, Khalid said that having the Pakatan Rakyat leader sentenced to prison would actually be an advantage to the Opposition.

“If Anwar is put in jail, even though we don't want it, it will make our job easier because people can see for themselves that injustice is being committed (by the government),” Khalid said.

Khalid added that the government’s effort on stamping out corruption and having an independent judiciary is all talk and no actual action is being taken.

During the question and answer session after his speech, when asked about the difficulties faced by Pakatan Rakyat coalition with its component parties having differing stands and ideologies, Khalid said that developing a working coalition will always be an ongoing process.

“PAS, DAP and PKR have similar objectives in that we are against race politics, corruption, injustices... When we got to work together there are many things that we find similar in terms of objectives. From then on we don't look at who the members of the parties are, instead we look at the parties' objectives,” Khalid said.

However, the charismatic MP said that it’s an unfortunate fact that there are still a small group of members within PAS who don't completely trust DAP and the same inclination exists within all Pakatan Rakyat component parties towards each other.

The former ISA detainee also said that to undertake change for the better the rakyat plays a major role.

“I think the rakyat understands that to change, everyone needs to chip in. We need everybody to chip in to ensure that the rakyat's voice is heard,” he said.

He added that he’s confident that through a proper and dedicated leadership change can be achieved.

The casual and open forum is the first of a series of monthly event called the Teh Tarik Session. Guests and participants of the inaugural event include Rahmat Harun, Adman Salleh, Nurul Izzah, Nam Ron, Thian Chua and Kee Thuan Chye.

A good leader is pragmatic person who is able to convince and extract concession and understanding from the majority for those that need help, without trampling the rights and freedoms of both parties. Middle of the line and Malaysia is on the right track to compete across borders. Khalid's background is an ideal one for leadership in a multi religious and multi-race nation. Working by consensus and still protecting minority aspirations ,would foster cooperation from all Malaysians

Dear Sabahfan,

It was indeed enlightening to read what you have written about the corrupt arse-holes who terrorised and plundered you people.I am sure they will be punished accordingly by God.

In fact policies by Mamakutty were very racist, he kept saying the chinese threaten the Malays, yet all the time they were threatening us with keris and pushing us against the wall. He was avery bad muslim unfortunately under his administration all the bad muslims were flourishing.Just like you I hated him so much. They discriminate against you everywhere and make you feel like a bastard.

Islam or otherwise I still believe in the goodness in man's heart or any race or religion. All of us have a conscience and I am not even sure Pakatan's politicians when voted into power will be fair to all races. Who know? They might trick us and then turn against us like Zul!! He won on a Pakatan ticket and became a taliban fighting for Islam.

Also many people claim to be muslim but their actions show otherwise. If a person indulges in greed and corruption is he a true muslim? Many worship $$$God and that is why they behave like Satan. Nik Aziz is a good muslim, he is honest, moderate and very respectful of others.

But in life we have to put our faith in something. What alternative then Pakatan? If we go our own ways we are not strong enough to win. I would just give Pakatan a try and hope there is still true democracy in men's hearts where everyone is created equal in the eyes of God. It is definitely not easy to be trusting after having seen all the evil leaders we have. But there is always HOPE in tomorrow, bro.
HOPE-la!! Let us vote Pakatan for change!!!

Mulut murai....

Asrama Donni ???

Hardly impress me... There are billions of such organisations championing this or that.

But these are done by people who are already senang senang, rich and rich...

why bother to raise funds? Just 0.01 percent of MUKRIZ mahafirauns wealth is enought to build TEN such asramas.

Just show me a man or a woman amongst the moslems of the world who gave their entire life serving the poor and unfortunate without having a house of his/her own all in the name of ISLAM.

ONLY then I will respect that religion.

mother teresa did, so did all the priest that i have come across, as well as the la salle brothers.

I am yet to meet an equivalent of Lasalle order in the moslem world

Murut murai and rodim fist....

Just read and digest what Fartfart wah has posted. YES i agree..Malaysian politicians will only talk rhetorics just to make themselves popular.

I will consider this KHALID samad of yours as a SAINT if he is willing to stand alone until death and even face ISA, osa etc to make a statement that there shall be 100 percent freedom of religion as agreen in the MALAYSIA agreement when Sabah and Sarawak agreed to form a federation with Malaya to form Malaysia.

One of the conditions was that there shall be total freedom of religion where Sarawak and Sabah HAS NO state religion.

BUT so long as MOSLEMs are leading the nation, slowly slowly they have eroded the spirits of the agreement and now ISLAM is the state religion of SABAH.

NOW isnt that the same as forcing ISLAM down our throat, and because I have not coverted all my lifetime, the govt has consistently discriminated against me and all my non moslem colleagues at work and in society?

NAH, so long as a small community of Moslems exist in one country, they will start to find ways and means to force others to convert, just like a desease.

So I will only believe in the value of islam when I see malaysia free to convert in and also free to get out of islam.. WHAT HAPPENED TO LINA JOY? already imprisoned by your syariah courts?

The BN govt, and all your moslem community has VIOLATED the first principle of the 20 points of Sabah agreeing to form Malaysia and so long as the moslems in Malaysia refuse to acknowledge this violation, I will not believe at all that there is any values in ISLAM.

Just look at the history. All the sultan communities who are pirates and enslavers in south east asia, especially in the Philipines, the three most common ones are the TAUSUG, BOLONGINGI and IRANNUNS have sultans who readily accepted islam because it condones their economic activity of SLAVE RAIDING AND TRADING... that means they raid all NON moslem community to kidnap and enslaves them, because islam allows treatment of non moslems as second class or SLAVES..

read the research by the National geography on the piracy in the southern philipines.. so even the sultan of sulu also was a pirate king.

Sabahfan,

This is not about proving that there are more good Muslims than good Christians or good pagans.
This is about giving credits where they are due.

I can't blame you for having bad views of Islam due to actions of those people but if everybody thinks like you do, then there won't be anybody to love in this world.

By the way, g****e for Asrama Donni.
It's in Sabah, maybe that will answer some of your questions.

This is a rhetoric....it can never happen in Malaysia as long as UMNO is covertly doing all it can to hold the Malays by the throat with religion and race....In UMNO we have little ayatollahs aka hasarani and ulamas who force their thinking on the Malays and Muslims to follow rigidly to what they say and if not hell is sure the guaranteed .....It is the same control the people with religion and use race as the agenda...and as long as UMNO is in charge this country..they have buried Tunku and Hussein Onn's dream...very sad to say..Hishamoooding today belongs to this new breed of MOOlayus..

Sabahfan. Pls don't bring religion into it. Mustapha just was getting rich 'servicing' umno.
Anyone can sell their principles for money: MIC, Gerakan, MCA, etc.
Because you see, dear Sabahfan, only UMNO Rapists use race and religion to DIVIDE the Rakyat. Don't be like them. I understand you're pissed off. Umno makes me want to vomit, but don't attack people's religion:Islamin this case. Because ALL religions can be twisted by demons, by umno.

Mulut Murai...

TUN Mustapha was just one of them.

After him came Harris Salleh, then Osu Sukam who gambled millions, yet NO action from JAIS, JAKIM or the Syariah court, yet they wanna canned an actress for just drinking beer? what about the man who fukked underaged girls and marry 11 years old kids?

And now we have Musa aman who only wanna sapu all the projects for himself.

Now tell me Murut Murai, give me one moslem leaders who will compensate us non moslems for a lifelong of SUFFERING from Mustapha's dictatorship to what UMNO is doing to our land now?

JUST give me ONE moslem preachers who teaches for free just like Brother Peter Phelan

OR show me a moslem Mother Teresa and I guarantee you I will convert tomorrow.

As it was, I was discriminated for a lifetime at work just becos i am not a moslem.

All the moslem juniors that I trained were all promoted to be my bosses and they never showed any gratitude.

Do you think I will be forgiving at all until i die?

Now, I will leave my story and prove in the cyberworld to be reproduced a million times so that I will NOT die in Vain.

So before I die, if you wanna me convert to ISLAM, you better show me a Mother Teresa of Islam or another moslem prophet who gave up all his material wealth just to promote islam and I will follow him.

THIS IS A CHALLENGE TO THE MOSLEM WORLD...!!

Otherwise all I can see in islam is Jihad, 9/11, Taleban, Iraq, Iran, Bil Laden, Muamar Khadafi, Sadam Hussein, Abu Sayaff, etc etc..

To the descendants of Mustapha bin Dtk Harun

Here are three reasons why your father and grandfather was stupid.

1. While he was chief minister, instead of taking care of his rakyats, he was too busy fukking around in London, leaving the running of the state to Syed Kecik who become rich in sabah sucking sabahs wealth and projects.

Instead of being remembered as the founding fathers of sabah's independence, Mustapha is remembered for buying two Gumman Jets for his personal use, marrying an Australian Cinderella (a supermarket checkout girl for god sake) and wasting our tax money and terrorising Sabahans esp non moslems during his dictatorship.

2. After losing out to Berjaya, and then Berjaya lost out to PBS, Mustapha was stupid enought to be cheated by Datuk Harris to try and grab power by swearing himself again as CM when they did not have majority seat in state assymbly. AFter PBS advised the TYT to dissolve the assymbley for fressh election, Mustapha and Harris joined their philipino illegals to start bombings and unrest in Kota Kinabalu. Now why should we honour this Mustapha even in death?

3rd act of stupidity.. the worst of its kind.

ALLOWING his USNO party to be used to allow UMNO to enter the state of Sabah.

ONce UMNO was entrenched in Sabah, the UMNO kuala Lumpur simply kicked him out and his sons out of Sabahs Politics..

NOW I think joshua kong is right to call him blooody STUPID

If Pas hold the view that Islam should not be imposed upon people than the non-malays with not be so apprehensive of PAS because your floating in white dress and skull-caps gives the picture of a nether-world and make us feel threatened. However lately due to the ourstanding leadership of Niz Aziz and yourself we non-malays have grown to fear you less. The acceptance of PAS by the chinese esp in Perak because of the strong unity of Nizar & Co also endeared PAS to us. You have shown to be a truly religious party that sincerely hold to Islamic ideals and compared to BN's brand of pseudo-islam we support you anytime.

PAS for all Malaysians!!!

This week, only the Sabah newspaper reported the passing of a christian Brother, calld Peter Phelan, an irish catholic.
Note, although he wears a white frock, he is not a priest but belongs to the order of Brothers whose vow to God is to teach and teach and teach the young for a better life, IN RETURN FOR NOTHING.

The Brothers did not just teach and propagate their religion, rather they teach any other subjects that is useful for the modern citizens. Amongst the beneficiary of Brother Peter Phelans work in Sabah are hundreds of political leaders INCLUDING lots of Moslems too.

I heard stories why some moslem parensts sent their children to be taught by the brothers. The reason, they were not afraid that their kids might be conerted, NO. They simply enjoyed the FREE teaching services given by the brothers.
NO how did they repay this kindness?

OOOH, one Stupid chief minister of Sabah by the name of TUN MUSTAPHA arrested the priest and brothers and deported them.

Yeah, just last night I attended the forum organised by the SAYAanakMalaysia group in KK.

One rather odd activist called Joshua Kong was heard to whisper "that stupid mustapha"at the back of the hall. Another attendee, most probably a descendant of these former dictator was infuriated, during question time, he went to the front and condemned Joshua and warned him never to repeat that again.

Waah waah, a fight nearly occurred but Joshua with his wife screaming at the background said something like.. He was the stupid Mustapha who sent me to jail at Kepayan without committing a crime.

Of course this is true. Any independent candidate who stood against Mustapah's USNO party was arrested to prevent them from being candidates so that USNO wond the federal elections all UNOPPOSED.

Now isnt this a true characteristic of ISLAM? force force force and dictatorship??

NOW HIS DESCENDANTS are trying to cover up this sordid part of Sabahs history.

I challenge anyone esepecially the descendants of this bloody MUSTAPAH to deny this fact of history.

YOUR Mustapha who could have been considered one of the heroes of SABAH and Malaysias formation is better remembered as a dictator who arrested and jailed innocent priest.

Fkkk anyone who tries to deny this

Khalid,

According to Sun Tzu- Art of War.

Knowing yourself you win 50% of the time
Knowing your opponent you win 100% of the time

and knowing that the opponent would also know us would bring us to square 1

Your understand of other, your sacrifice to make a point and your ability to go one step further to win the heart of the third force (the Rakyat) will guarantee Malaysia a better future tomorrow. Hat of to you

May your God bless you.

With due respect to Khalid Samad and RPK I say ISLAM should never have set foot on any part of Malaysia and asian countries.
These countries have their own original relition which is paganism.
You can talk until the end of the world but as far as history has shown, amongst all the major religion of the world, only ISLAM has been forced and forced upon others..

YEAH YEAh i have debated this before, I know your answer, CRUSADES you say...
BUT note, the crusades were done by the kings and other warlords, it was not done by the founder of chritianity. Unlike the Muhammad when during his lifetime has declared war on unbelievers...

Did Christ asked his followers to kill those who dont want to convert? NO, all he did was to shake the dust from his feet and leave the town who dont want to listen. Freedom of choice.

What did christ said? If someone slap your cheek, give him the other one.

What did moslem do when some cartoonist drew cartoons? well its JIHAAAK... all the photos of these can be found everywhere in the net.

DId Buddha force his followers to join him? NO, they came to him because they thought he was the enlightened one after doing the usual monk type of lifestyle, giving up their wealth for a life of prayers.

NOW show me a moslem leader who is NOT filthy rich and did not use islam to gain political power? Pelase show me a MOSLEM monk? commmoooon..... I challenge the world of islam on this.

Wasn't it written in the Quran, ' There is no compulsion in Islam'? Then why there is ' Death to apostasy'?
In a fair and logical view, every one has the right to accept and to change their beliefs. For faith is just a substance hope for. There is no sure and tangible evidence to show any religion is right or wrong. The only evidence is the fruits, the contributions and good characters of the believers. This we can see and be assured of and should be doing and promoting.

No religion (Christianity, Islam or Hinduism) must be imposed onto anyone. We should have our own faiths and believes and everyone must respect that. There could be a Muslim that strongly believes in Islam and follows it strictly and there could be a Muslim who may be an open and liberal Muslim, both these people must be respected for their view. Fanatics should not be tolerated in a civil society.
