Malaysiakini reports that minister in the PM's department, Nazri Aziz, in his reply to a question in parliament about automatic registration of voters, had said NO. That I could have understood if he had given reasons based on technical reasons, like security issues through the loss of MyCard, or that the electoral database is currently not fully linked with other databases from NRD, ie. deaths, those coming of age, changing addresses, etc.
Instead his reason is the government respects the freedom of choice of Malaysia's citizens!

Malaysiakini - Gov't rejects automatic registration of voters
This reason beats it all when coming from a top-down government who take it upon themselves that they know what is best for you and me, the ordinary citizens who are most affected when these know-it-all bastards sneezes or have a hang-nail on their little pinkies! When have they worried about our choices? Just look at Perak, look at the government's refusal for local elections, and look at how UMNO/BN operates in parliament, amongst others.
In parliament, despite dissenting views from the more moderate of UMNO/BN, whenever there is a government sponsored bill to be voted upon, Nazri with his party whip will crack it so that all MPs under the BN umbrella will vote with the government - or else. Not even on issues which divides the country and that our elected representatives could vote according to their conscience and wishes of the constituents they represent!
So much for freedom of choice! I've not researched on the topic of voting in parliament but as far as I know, in the many years since Mahathir's ascension to power, UMNO/BN has never lifted the whip to allow their MPs to vote according to conscience.

This parliamentarian has been hugging his seat for too long and he is "becoming ONE with his seat" !
This MORON cannot differentiate between every elligible Malaysian voter !
When one is legally registered as soon as one is of age the process is akin to the MYcard registration when one reached the age of twelve ! From the age of twelve to the eligible age to register as voter , many things and incidents could have happened and it becomes sensible wise and statistic updating to be carried by way of "compulsary voter" registration.
Moron minister, stop talking filth and start doing your work as a "responsible" member of the ruling REGIME ! Even a regime should be wise to keep updating for "manipulation purposes" RIGHT ???
Compulsary Voter Registration does not necessarily mean one as a voter need to cast one's vote as that would require a further effort of gazzetteing compulsary voting as a law !
MORON, why do we need to change our IC at the age of 18 to 21 , again when one reaches 30 ? That was a kind of updating (besides some cronies milking the rakyats' coffer for those whole processes !
The IC change after the age of twelve should be incorporated with compulsary registration to vote ! And that will save the rakyat alot of unecessary hassles and plenty more money left for you morons to gasak further through other "PROJECTS" !!!!!

In fact, I have come across malaysians who proudly boasted & bragged that they have never voted before in their lives. Stupidity level of these people are unbelievable.
How powerful are our votes? Let's see, the govt suddenly did not raise electricity tariffs on March 1st and did not increase petrol price at the pump by 10sen on March 15, and overnight, GST is put on the dusty shelf, while we hear rumours of possible GE13 being called soon (meaning in the next 12mths). The govt is afraid it will lose in GE13. The govt is afraid of us. Isn't that fantastic? Use your vote, because once in 4 years, you get a chance to teach those bastards a lesson!
