PETALING JAYA: Popular 98.8 FM DJ Jamaluddin Ibrahim has been asked to go on leave after receiving a letter from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Known as Jamal to his fans, the DJ hosts the “Say Hi to Malaysia” morning programme from Monday to Friday.

“I was notified by the management yesterday evening to take leave for the present,” he told FMT, adding that his leave was “indefinite”.

Jamal said the radio station received a letter from the MCMC which carried a complaint about his programme.

“The letter said that my comments have influenced the security of the country. (It also said) my comments on race relations were not acceptable,” he added.

Asked if he knew why a complaint was filed, Jamal replied, “I really don't know. The MCMC didn't mention (if there was) something wrong.”

The DJ has been asked to report to the MCMC's office in Cyberjaya tomorrow morning.

Jamaluddin Ibrahim has an awesome pedigree !

What ever he picks up will be just great ! The Government cannot keep a good man down.

All the Government institutions ( MACC, A-G office, PDRM, Prime Minister's Dept, Education Dept...etc) are falling down flat.

Jamaluddin Ibrahim is a good man and cannot be kept down !

..the idea of an independant radio station based in Indonesia or Thailand should be given serious thought as suggested by ARIA. or at least team up with a small broadcaster. the opposition has to come up with new ideas to circumvent the restrictions.

we'll attack from the sea, from the air and on land until the battle is won!

The BN government will not allow any media to become more popular then it brain washing public media. That is one main reason why RPK is in so much trouble is because of his web site Malaysia Today.

Any radio station that wants to be free from government persecution must go into a safe zone; the internet or transmit from Indonesia or Thailand using medium wave broadcast. Radio broadcasting is still an untapped resource for the opposition to take if they are smart enough.

Chinese-speaking Malay DJ friendly with Chinese and trying to make them understand the Malay. How does this threaten national security and race relations? MCA needs to get rid of him so that BN politicians can spread their racist poison without hindrance. Jamal is a great guy who got in the way of MCA's toxic breath.
