KOTA KINABALU: The cracks in PKR appears to be widening with vice president Jeffrey Kitingan accusing PKR advisor Anwar Ibrahim of destroying the peace plan brokered late last year to restore normalcy in the party in Sabah.

Jeffrey said PKR had two options last year: one was to take action against those involved in forming a breakaway party through suspension or sacking; and the second option was reconciliation.

He added that the party chose to reconcile and agreed to some of his demands. In return, his 12 supporters agreed to restore normalcy including withdrawing the application to register a break-away party, Parti Cinta Sabah.

"The party cannot now abandon the reconciliation plan and go back to the option of castigating and punishing the people involved.

“This has reflected badly against decision makers in the party," said Jeffrey.

FMT also learned that Jeffrey has advised Anwar to postpone his scheduled visit to Menggatal, Putatan and Papar tomorrow to another date.

Jeffrey is expected to release a statement on the matter later today.

Did Anwar break his word?

In related development, Jeffrey in an interview with blogger Haris Ibrahim, also spoke about how Anwar had reneged on his word.

Yesterday, the PKR disciplinary board recommended that 12 Sabah PKR leaders, aligned to Jeffrey, be suspendend for wanting to register Parti Cinta Sabah.

The 12 had filed the application with the Registrar of Societies, following a leadership tussle last year. They had wanted Jeffrey to lead Sabah PKR.

Following a peace deal, the application was retracted.

Asked if the application to register a new party was raised at the peace talks, Jeffrey replied, “Yes, when it was decided to reconcile, it was also decided that no action would be taken against those who took part in setting up the new party.”

“In return, Thamrin Jaini’s appointment (as Sabah PKR chief) would be accepted whilst there was also an agreement on the appointment of some others, like the secretary and ketua penerangan (information chief), but even this was not implemented,” he added.

On whether the assurance that “no action would be taken” was expressly raised and agreed during the peace talks, he said: “It was agreed to by the Ketua Umum PKR (Anwar). It (the decision) was conveyed to me by the Ketua Umum through a third party.”

According to Jeffrey, the assurance was conveyed verbally as well as in writing.

He also denied the claim that Anwar and other leaders were not aware that the application was submitted to the Registrar of Societies, and at the time of the peace talks, they were under the impression that a new party was merely being contemplated.

The veteran politician was also in the dark about why the party had suddenly decided to make a U-turn on this issue.

“I have no idea, although it does look like it might have to do with the party elections. Somebody complained and now it looks like we are going backward,” he said.

If there is to be consensus, the best option is for DATUK ZAID IBRAHIM TO TAKE OVER THE LEADER
OF PKR. Ppl like AA does not have the capability and qualities of a dynamic leader.
We need new young talents in PKR, not ex old ultra amenos.
The way internal strife is warring in PKR detects that very same of ameno style. If that is the case PKR
is doomed. Oh yes, loyalist to DSAI are blind sided.
Get real man !!! If we want change, they must change their mindset too. The new young voters are
educated and matured enough in their thinking. And there are around 4 million of them.
Our grandfathers and parents may be swayed by the rhetoric but not the current generation.
MOVE WITH THE TIMES MAN !!!

Looks like a chemistry problem to me. The chemicals involved just don't mix. May be best to keep them separate, but what to do next???? Is there hope for Sabah? Is there hope for the peninsula?

alamak Better My, what i mean was, Anwar do not have enough respect & trust from the Sabahan. What they want is a leader who they can trust, if they said they trust Jeff K, what can you do? If they will only vote for the leadership they want, why put on all the ego saying KL is the headquarters? The main objective is to get the people to oust Barisan Najis, so let the people to vote for who they want. said whatever but if they want jeff k which Anwar is unwilling to, Pakatan is on the losing end.

G-old man, It is not onus for Anwar, the chief, to pander to jeff whims and fancies, just as CEO of a company is not to pander to any department head fancies. The department heads of an organisation supports the chief's plan. The department head does not goes off to his own agenda.

This is the biggest problem with Peninsula Malaysian, the Sabahan viewed us with great suspect, no thanks to PBS katak-ing to BN. They do not want another arrogant people from Peninsula telling them what to do, if the Sabahan wants their own leader, Pakatan or PKR or Anwar MUST RESPECT their demand. Sabah is not just another state like those in Peninsula. When Malaysia was formed, Peninsula, Sabah & Sarawak are EQUAL. As much as you all want to change the Barisan Najis, much must be done to court our brothers and sisters in Sabah & Sarawak and no more taikor from Peninsula!

When Sabah PKR is not performing since Jan 10 and before, as confimed by Jeff K on the impasse, what do you want to do. sit tight and do nothing or do something, like the present restructure? Surely, the new crop of Sabah PKR leaders will still have active Sabah members and their say, but the difference this time is that they take orders from the KL centre command communication room, not from any other command centre, not authorised by PKR supremo.

The same applies for ALL western states - PKR supremos decisions are supreme - the PKR state governments have to follow, though in the macrolevels, the local state leaders wil play their parts.

You can argue on Sabah and Sarawak on equality but for PKR to respond to this equality issue is LIKE PKR/PR responding to the FECTed estate andHH Indian racist issues. This is a NO-win to PKR whichever postion they adopt. This is NOT the right time for this discussion. You would have a more sympathetic ears after PR gets into government as the media wil be opened up and you will be able to put your cases for more/better Federal intervention and support for the East or/and your own propsoals to do more things in Sabah.

I envisage every states in Malaysia would get their higher share of the funds$ for all states to grow because we would have stopped the croniess corrupt excesses, increase productivty etc.and increase the funds available. But first, we must into Putrajya. To get in there, as much as possible, every critical areas must fall in place. That include a strong Sabah that can carry out KL PKR instructions without any distraction of the Jeff K impasse, tour operator Swizer/USA/UN , consultancy for UMNO with half foot here and half foot there, world forum of personal agenda, engagement for secession with Hindraf, etc.

In Malaysia everyone want to be a PM, just for power and money. Hudud law is not bad if Tok Aziz is the PM but not other. We are F**k no matter what.

2 parties for what?, Anwar for what? and if BN lost than what?

We can say change, change, change but change to what? We look up to political leader thinking they are saint/leader and waiting patiently for this A*****e to lead us.

When are we/Rakyat going to stand up and demand what we want and what we expect of our "leaders"/employees. We don't have to wait, it doesn't matter whether it's BN or PR. The only change we need is the Rakyat. If we stand up and be counted then no one can stop us.

You can't change when we have the power to get rid of them.

PKR stumble on some blocks, but calling it crumbling wall, crushing down is an overstatement and unncessary exageration. This restructure is one we HAD to have to be hard for us to be kinder to the Sabahan and united Sabahan under their local leaders, all supporting the direction of KL PKR.

PKR is not the only party running Sabah. Surely, DAP is doing their groundwork in Sabah, but it is also conspicously absent from the font line and the MT media. Another clone of Jeff K for DAP as well?

Sure like to see DAP heavyweights in Sabah to stop some DAP egoistic person, like Jeff K, getting carried away dreaming of King of Sabah as well.

All politicians are chameleon. I lost confidence in politicians after the tearful exit of Lee Lam Thye from DAP. But what is important we as a Malaysian need to put a stop to the politicians who use race and religion to continue to hang on to power. The first step is to defeat BN, cleanup the judiciary, police and hopefully we can revert to the original constitution prior to Mahathirs amendments. Then we can remove the rest of the cancerous cells in the name of politicians. The good thing is I can see good men out there. Khalids, Nizar, Guan Eng (but he is a politician), Nurul, Zaid, .. so let's wait. Hopefully, the rakyat can see the the benefits now that it is bcoz of Pakatan they are getting duit raya.

Littlebird, Jeff K as Sabah PKR has failed, in my books. He himself has stated that that in Jan/Feb10. Sabah PKR has mostly gone missing in action for a good 6 months in 2010. If any PKR member is not going to work with KL PKR, then these are the results.

Jeff K speaking to the outsiders without PKR supremo authority are setting unacceptable precedents. This must be the discipline committee thing to sort out.

G-old man, It is not onus for Anwar, the chief, to pander to jeff whims and fancies, just as CEO of a company is not to pander to any department head fancies. The department heads of an organisation supports the chief's plan. The department head does not goes off to his own agenda.

The impasse is poruely due to the big headed Jeff who thinks he is King in Sabah, by his association of his brother standing in PBS and his apprent accessibility to the UMNO people. He is like a double agent, or a chameleon that changes color depend on the times. .

Sabahan do not want another party from West Malaysia to rule them. PKR is aware of this. The only way is to build a strong ally with a Sabah party. So how to do this? Jeffrey Kittingan need to convince Sabahan that he is not Anwar's lapdog. Now, the plan is set for a new party to tackle BN in Sabah. The relationship will revealed themselves after GE13.
