PETALING JAYA: PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ibrahim today proclaimed that God has chosen her husband, Anwar Ibrahim, to lead Malaysians towards a better future, and there is no one else who could surpass his leadership strength.
In her keynote address to 1,500 delegates at the second day of the PKR national congress here, the doctor-turned-politician said that Anwar was no ordinary man.
"What is the real secret of his strength until today? My answer is, Anwar is an outstanding human being, given by God to lead the people. If he is an ordinary human being like us, he would have retreated and sunk in between hurdles and challenges," she said.
According to Wan Azizah, Anwar, who is also the party de facto, leader has faced impediments like no one else has.
"What has not Anwar faced? He was detained, put behind bars, beaten, tortured and mortified. Since Independence Day, there are no other leaders who have been slandered, insulted and tortured continuously like Anwar.
"But Anwar remains strong and committed to our struggle," she added.
Anwar, who currently sits as an Opposition Leader, was sacked as deputy prime minister in 1998 and jailed for sodomy and corruption.
Wan Azizah, who was the former Permatang Pauh MP before paving the way for her husband to make a comeback to Parliament, said that his leadership was needed to save the nation's image from being tarnished.
Although Anwar's leadership in the party looks solid because many leaders suggested that his position as de facto leader cannot be challenged, his future as Opposition Leader looks bleak.
This is because Pakatan Rakyat's arch rival, Barisan Nasional, seems intent on taking disciplinary action against Anwar over his “One Israel-Apco jibe” in Parliament a few months ago.
Besides, his second sodomy trial could also see him in jail again.

Some humble appreciation should suffice. There is no need to heap extreme praise except to rally for supports. This is bad for PKR and PR. DAP and PAS would now be so embarrassed to be in PR. Do you still think that the people still had the 'kampong' brain in them? UMNO think so , but from a PKR leader , only shows the same low mentality of some Malaysians. DSAI a Gods Gift
Come on everyone. Why put God in Politics. Already UMNO prevented the nons from mentioning Allah and until now no decision had come of it. May I ask the almighty how the hell do a Non become a Muslim in Malaysia if he is not allowed to mention Kalimah Allah to convert to a Muslim. There is no rules to say that only converts are allowed to say the word before becoming a Muslim. In Law there is no give and take. So You Muslims out there how do you propagate Islam then. There is no such thing as conversion can only happened in the vinsinity or the premises of Jakim or Mais. This is bulshit and do not become a hippo. Infact this Allah business should have been solved by the Malays themselves in this country and not wait for the protests of the Nons. And now back to DSAI , maybe it is God revenge on DSAI when he was in UMNO and before that in ABIM and during his youth when his action was really very unislamic on the nons.So please, it is nots Gods help but the mirror reflects the truth. Do unto others and others will do unto you.

Nothing is wrong of what she mentioned. Everyone of us is god sent to to lead, but only very few dare to take the challenge.
But whether Anwar is the best person to lead Malaysians...thats different story.
Anyway its easy to use gods name because pretty much it is assured good will not attend the media conference to agree/deny the statement.

Anwar has definitely got leadership qualities and is a very good speaker. But to win GE13 he has to be smart, able to adapt, share power and come up with winning ideas. Lately I am seeing a slight arrogance in Anwar and his team in Pakatan. They have to understand that this fight is about giving Malaysia back to the people and not about Pakatan taking Malaysia.
