KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 — Malays are also migrating in hope of landing better jobs abroad as they are being discriminated against by Malaysia’s private sector, says rights group Perkasa.

The Malay rights group said the issue of brain drain was not limited to non-Malays, accusing the private sector of having “racist” policies in hiring employees.

“The Malays are leaving the country in droves because they cannot obtain places within the private sector, only the government sector... the private sector chooses employees based on skin colour, and they favour their own race compared to Malays,” Perkasa secretary-general Syed Hassan Syed Ali told The Malaysian Insider.

He disputed the findings of a World Bank report published on Thursday which stated that the main factors causing brain drain in Malaysia were policies favouring the Malays.

“Malays are leaving, they are going to the United Kingdom, Dubai for better prospects... why? Because they can’t even get job opportunities despite being qualified,” Syed Hassan told The Malaysian Insider.

The Perkasa leader claimed pro-Bumiputera economic policies were not the reason non-Malays were leaving the country.

“The Chinese, the Indians, they like to leave the country, they are used to leaving their country for better job opportunities.

“They are leaving because they want better pay in foreign countries... it is not because of discriminatory policies... they have everything they want here, what are they complaining for?” said the Perkasa secretary-general.

In a Bloomberg news service report, World Bank senior economist Philip Schellekens was quoted as saying that foreign investment could be five times the current levels if the country had Singapore’s talent base.

Many who migrated to the UK are Chinese and many who work illegally and overstayers are Chinese too. They are either working in Chinese restaurants or peddling DVDs and counterfeit goods or some cases drugs (sounds familiar doesnt it??...just like back home) Some of the female students are prostitutes and pimps working the streets in Leicester Sq (Chinatown). All the bad reputation that Malaysians living in the UK have received are because of them. I hear that they are also causing the same trouble down in Australia and NZ. Them slit eyed cunts are a shit wherever they go.

The only Malays who can afford to leave Malaysia are those who:
1. Have Malay parents who made enough money from govt contracts and thus can afford to send their children abroad, and will do so because they know Malaysia has lower quality of life and will remain so in the near future.
2. Have Malay parents who have made enough money from govt contracts and have had their children educated well in English as a first language, else they wont survive overseas.

As for the majority of the Malays who dont have govt connections to land themselves any govt projects to get rich quick...... too bad, cant migrate because:

1. got no money.
2. got no language skill.
3. got no confidence to withstand 'real working culture' set by global standards.

The TRUTH SUCKS: Majority of Malays are so laid back and reliant on govt handouts over the years coupled with false sense of security given by Malay politicians that they will NEVER survive overseas!

SORRY, so careless. left out "no" in first line ...There's NO denying....

there's denying that Malays are also leaving the country to work and probably settle elsewhere. AND WHY NOT? they have the qualifications, ability, skills and competency to get good jobs and career advancement? why not? also, there are numerous malays/bumi on international postings of multinational conglomerates. should we moan?
but this is a far cry from Perkasa secretary-general Syed Hassan Syed Ali's twisted and baseless claim (that never will ever can be substantiated by facts and figures) that they are leaving the country "in droves because they cannot obtain places within the private sector" and that "the private sector chooses employees based on skin colour".
most malays find jobs in the government sector because the sector is the largest creator of jobs, and BECAUSE THESE JOBS ARE CREATED OVERWHELMINGLY FOR MALAYS.
the private sector employs people based on ability, meritocracy (a concept alien to perkasa and the Syed). it does not and cannot afford to choose employees based on skin colour, but on skills and abilities because IT IS SURVIVAL IN THE BUSINESS WORLD. even a bumi-run marketing company for example is unlikely to give a job to any applicant, bumi or otherwise, who cannot speak simple, coherent English. and would a company that trades almost exclusively in China even think of giving a job to Chinese who cannot communicate in Hua yue?
so, yes, Syed may be right that Malays may also be exiting "in droves" but why moan, and advance dumb reasons for doing so? he should in fact be congratulating them for being able to find jobs, good well paid jobs, outside tanah melayu!
he is equally dumb for saying that the pro-Bumiputera economic policies were not the reason non-Malays were leaving the country. “The Chinese, the Indians, they like to leave the country". Wow! Does this person truly understand the implications and importance of that statement? he probably doesn't so his political masters both serving and retired should upon serious reflection do the necessary.
Let me raise an important point, partly triggered by Syed's claim. Most, if not all, countries "lose" people, valued or otherwise. Most countries that see citizens leaving take it benevolently and are magnanimous in wishing them well and offering them a blank cheque to return. they DO NOT CUT them off. that's why you will find people in other countries who are citizens of those countries and owe their loyalties to those countries BUT WHO WILL STILL THINK FONDLY OF THEIR "HOME LAND". but this is an alien concept here.
now, what is perkasa's stance on Malays who leave to work and live abroad? will perkasa treat them no differently like Chinese and Indians? it considers Chinese and Indians pendatangs and therefore if they leave to work/live abroad it is good riddance. will is also be good riddance to the "droves" of Malays leaving that Syed mentioned? will perkasa conjure up benevolence and magnanimity for them?
syed and perkasa, to use a hokkien phrase beh tahan simply because the world bank mentioned and used as comparison SINGAPORE!
small minded frog in a little pond, just like their godfather.

Malays are leaving too? But is it in such numbers to be noticeable? Why not ask those Malays who have left? I don't know why, as I have always imagined that they have never had it so good, especially in government service and in GLC's, where, the Government, in order to help the Malays gain eployment and have an easy life, would employ Malays in droves to work in places that need only a handlful of staff. Maybe they will employ 10 employees where 1 employee is enough to do the job. I have been told that in my previous job in Penang, where there was only 1 engineer, now they have appointed 7 engineers, and the workload is comparatively much less than before. It is the same everywhere else in Government service. Maybe now the Government, under pressure from UMNO and Perkasa, have to flood the GLC's and Government Departments with more fresh graduates, as these graduates can't find jobs in the private sectors, because the private sectors don't want them, not because they are Malays, but because they have been simply "passed" through univesities as if they were having their honeymoon. Of course, their failure to even have a rudimentary grasp of English adds up to their woes. Can more Malays who have gone to work overseas give us your input?

Ahhh..... Malays leaving the country are foreign educated. They don't like the fact that they and their girlfriend cannot even have privacy without being spied upon by the "religious police" of JAKIM and their so called high moral advocates. They cannot stand the narrow mindedness of people like Harussani and co.

They missed the freedom in the Kafir countries.

Malays leave Malaysia for the following reasons:
they can earn more outside Malaysia purely based on their own talents - no one will laugh behind their backs that they are where are in malaysia because ther are malays in malaysia and have an unfair advantage over the non-malays
they feel embrassed to be in malaysia with a government that uses race and religion to jkeep themselves in power
they have religious freedom to choose the faith of their choice based on their convictions and they can marry a person of a different faith without that person having to convert to Islam
they know they do no need special protection to compete with others
they are showing others that malays can do it without the crutches that perkasa malays must have and they are proving perkasa WRONG

Maybe the many Malays who are said to leave the country should be the ones posting their reasons...I am not Malay and maybe not my place to comment...

But do know the Government sector has showed through their quotas to be bias and therefore the non-Malays who incidently would be more than happy to work with Government sectors are deprived..Futhermore the people fail to realise that the income is low and that the Government feels contented to rob the Malays of better salary,by being patriotic and showing they care only for Malays..So why complain?

Ask this question which private sectors you refer to? Who are the Chairmans,Directors,Bosses and partners of major private sectors? And are people apt to work in privates sectors with the inability to speak better command of English...?

As for non-Malays leaving...may I ask this Perkasa not to be so arogant when you speak..As a muslim convert in my opinion,I see you show nothing but aggresion in the manner you present yourself..who are the non-Malays that start any issue with your goodself? What gives you the right to question of anyone leaving the country..?.

How many Malays are sponsored by Government to study overseas compared to non-Malays? And by which statistics and by whose confirmation have you deduced that Chinese and Indians like leaving the country and its not because they too have not been given the same opportunities as the Malays and that the non-Malays who have the chance leave to be rid of racism and constant accusations and insults on their race and religions???

Oh by the way you should thank the British and the Indians...Its by other languages that you could make words to broaden the limitation in the Malay Language to express your arrogant self...And are shameless and hypocritical to then insult the people and their language...Plus its by the inventions, discoveries and creations of other races that you have this opportrunity to make yourelf known...Mascommunication isnt an invention by the Malay.. media,IT,technology, science, aviation, transportation, mus
ic,the world of education, fashion, etc etc...isnt the founders of Malays..So please while the world needs each other if my race shows arrogance,I would be embarrased and kick the butts pof of them for their negative and sensless behaviours and understanding and at the same time shameless....!!!

What type of twisted and sick comments are these coming from Syed Hassan? Why are their facial features getting more and more Indian than Malay when one continue to look at them? Why are some Malays still so gullible to allow these selfish Mahathir types to continue to lead them and influence their future as Malaysians ? While digging their own graves, these racists are digging even deeper graves for the Malays' future as well as country's future in the long term. They are deceptively seeking to control the country through deception of identity and robbing the Malays off their self-esteem and power. Because of them, in addition to inept UMNO policies, many Malays are still perceived by other Malaysians and especially the world-at-large to be lazy rent-seekers and non-competitive people. The good Malays must strive to, once and for all, kick out all these racist Malay-Impostors-Infiltrators from their make-do groupings and political mainstream activities to deny them what their patron Mahathir did to destroy the Malaysian soul.

Of course, World Bank senior economist Philip Schellekens was right in his report. The world bank had reported truthfully. Only fools, con-men, opportunists, Malay-Impostors and the likes of Perkasa's bastards would want to continue deny, twist and destroy a good Malaysian future in Malaysia. Short-sighted, selfish bastards these racially-inclined groupings are! Keep these truthful reports coming and expose them to the world. Eff them!

Hello Syed Celup,

True, Malay are leaving the country as well. But they left not because of the private sector mumbo-jumbo theory you told us. Those Malays who work in the government too feel discriminated. If you are not an UMNO member or an arse licker than you will remain in that rank for donkey years. No way you are going up the ladder. All the Head of the Department in the government offices are Ketua bahagian, Ketua cawangan, setiausha, bendahari, ketua penerangan or some other posts in the thieving UMNO party. They are up there not because they know how to do the job but because they are merely UMNO members. Promotion are not based on merit but whom you know!

And let me tell you of their work rate. They came at 8:00 am, punch in than off to the canteen until 8:40 or just go to another high-ranking Ketuanan member's room to sembang-sembang. Than sit on the desk making phone calls about the prospect of playing golf in the afternoon. In between, buat-buat busy by getting in and out of the office and by breathing under the neck of employees. 10 o'clock teh-tarik time again. 12 noon to 2:pm, lunch and sembahyang. Sometimes the makan time is way after 3 pm if there is a lunch appointment with some freeloader "projek Datuks" at some hotels. 4:30 off to the golf club. That is the routine UMNO Ketua Cawangan cum Head of Government Department.

Those who work hard will rot down the rung if they don't kiss the arse of these arse licker. And this talented people will eventually left the public office to work elsewhere where their talents are appreciated. I have met many talented Malays overseas; IT specialists, telecommunication technicians, civil, hydro and petroleum engineers, lecturers, Quantity Surveyor, etc. So Syed Celup. . ., even in the Ketuanan-controlled Public offices, there are brain drain because of discrimination.

So don't talk c**k to me, because I am one of the Malays that had migrated because of discrimination!

I am not sure what level of education most of the commitee members in PERKASA has as most are talking through their nose. I am sure that the most of the private sector employs people on meritrocracy in order for their organisation, companies or what not to be successful in their venture. I do not think they will just hire people for the sake to make the numbers. Please take a look at the GLC's and see for yourself and determine the state of corporate governance. I can only see that most are collapsing or near collapsing. Look at Pos Malaysia the latest I guess. Privatise it so that it can be looted and then sell it at the loss of the taxpayers expense. Many bumiputeras have left because they can't bear to see how the country is run and further more they believe in meritrocracy rather that most of them here whom depends on whom they know rather than what they know. It is these bumiputeras that are proud of themselves that they can earn a liiving abroad with the qualifications that they have and not the connections that they have. If what PERKASA claims that they left because of the policies of favouring non Malays, it will be wise if we can get a poll from all Malays that has already migrated and works for a better living abroad. I am sure this will prove the above statements wrong. Favoritism arises from meritrocracy and not the way around. The normal saying here is , I know him he should be able to do it, if he cannot do it we will then decide what to do next. In the private sector, we do not take chances, we make sure it works and not try him out first.

Read 1my Qur'an swearing, C4 spouting, pink pouting lips: Of course PERKAZA is absolutely correct! Malays are leaving the country as well. Just the other day, the whole bunch of Malays government servants left the country on a lewat sambil belajar junket hardship tour, poor Malays such as Diamdaim, Samsuddins, Musa, migrated to the US, South Africa and Canada. These people found it hard to get jobs from the racist pendatangs business that they have not bought up using the hard earned loot endowment. Personally, I don't think any cina-kui will employ me and Ro$mak if not for our govenment jobs. Further example, would any Cina kui bother to employ UMNO members at the appropriate salaries for the skills they have developed in UMNO? Al-UMNOdollarlah, luckily the Malays have guranteed government jobs. Of course the racist pendatangs will even try to prevent us from getting only 98.5% of these jobs. This definitely prove that all Cina-pendatangs are racist!!!
