The government spends more than RM1 million every month on a rented aircraft for ferrying VVIPs.

(Free Malaysia Today) - In the first eight months of the year, the government has spent more than RM9.1 million in flight costs on a single aircraft to ferry official VVIPs.

In a written response, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz said that the government had been renting an Airbus A319 from Malaysian Airlines System (MAS) Berhad since Aug 3, 2007.

The airplane, he added was for the use of “government VVIPs” such as Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

“From January to August 2011, the frequency of use of this plane covered 155 sectors in the country and abroad with costs totalling RM9,158,430.45, which cover the plane’s fuel costs, parking and handling charges, meals and flight crew logistics,” he said.

Nazri was responding to Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, who asked the PM’s Department, which rented the aircraft, to state the costs incurred.

It is not known if these flight costs included Najib’s travel expenses for this year, which were also revealed in Parliament.

FMT previously reported that Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor spent slightly more than RM17 million from 2008 to June this year.

Up to RM5.42 million was spent for Najib’s travels from January to June this year.

Fear lah MyKeris & Submit yourselves to MyISA Laws smilies/tongue.gif

Nurul, why are you so naughty like RPK? Those expenses are justified. We told the people to tighten their belt so that they pour more money into our pockets. We have worked very hard to indoctrinate those Renegades & Kafirs to return to the Deumnocracy path, hence we deserve more priviledges & commissions. You have no idea how much we 'earned' from the rakyat all this while. Please lah, just keep ke public away from privy into our expenditure. Join us, the Happy Umno Tree Friends, and you may yet get a share for yourself. Remember, MyKeris waving is great, MyISA laws are potent. Al-tantuya-lah! The masses are so easily fooled from their focus with petty issues that dont put food on their table! Umno is great!

These incompetent fools. They only know how to spend, spend spend.
Even british PM uses british airways when travelling, probably following the flight schedules to avoid wastage and questions in parliament.

This farking couple spent a little more than 17 million in less than 2 years. Do you know how that sounds to the general public that squints when he/she has to pay RM5-7 for office parking daily? Ni ma chow hai lu.. I hope you both rot in hell.

With that kind of money, how many primary schools can be built? How many unemployable celup graduates can you reeducate to fill in the gaps in our economic segments? How many SMEs would have benefited and SHOWED positive results within the 12-18 months?

This 2 idiots just don't deserve to have titles and live the way they should. They should be in jail!!! From the day they were born, they know nothing of the rakyat's hardships, they are in a world of their own. How to be in touch and govern us? Listen here Najib and Rosmah, you both make me sick to the core.

Everyone vote ABU! Chun toi punya BN..

9 millions for flight cost alone, mind you.

What about lodging, food, pocket money (handbag anyone?) etc?. Maintenance, furnishing (every hari raya maybe) and other hidden costs such as commission, bawah meja blah blah blah. What about DPM, he seems to fly in private jet to Sabah when Najib is away as well. Don't tell me they jet-pool (as in car pool) to save cost.

Again, it comes out from this Nazri shit-mouthed men in suit. Just now USD24million ring, now this million flying thingy... aiyoh.

I toil day and night in my business and I have to absorb 30% of my company's vehicle costs. Furthermore although working hard for my company, I am not entitled even one single ringgit claim for medical expenses from my own company. I have to pay out of my own pocket! These fellas live luxuriously on tax payers' money. Fair system my foot!

I thought this Airbus 319 was bought by the Government when Pak Lah was the PM but the flight line maintenance i.e. excluding parts and major maintenance, crew and meals was contracted out to a company for RM 1 million or more per month ever since the aircraft arrived and used. This purchase was done in spite that the Government bought an ex MAS Boeing 737 Business Jet operated by the RMAF. Earlier the Government acquired Fokker 28, Falcon 900, Blackhawk helicopter, Agusta helicopter and Bombardier Global Express for VVIPs' use and all operated by RMAF but maintained by AIROD. This Airbus is the exception from the other VIP aircraft as the crews are civilian and maintenance done by a private company. If I am not mistaken the main reason why the Government purchased the Airbus was because Pak Lah did not like the position of the bed on the Boeing 737 Business Jet which is located at the rear of the aircraft. So for the Airbus 319, the bed was located towards the front (they forgot that in case of an air crash normally the rear of the aircraft is spared). The other reasons I let you all guesslah because ada contract to purchase the aircraft, contract to furnish the aircraft, contract for maintenance etc. On the usage of these aircraft we see that they are not only used for official visits but also for holidays as some of us found out. The worst was when they were used for ferrying VVIPs for political purposes whether it is a weekly visit to constituency or during elections. So only in Bolehland we see the PM and DPM lagi bergaya dari the DYMM Sultans because selalu juga kita terjumpa DYMM Sultan-Sultan yang naik MAS i.e. 737-400 buruk aje. Sincerely hope that this wastage will stop very soon when.............

This must be our Air Fart Once, the Malaysian equivalent of the US Air Force One. It uses a lot of fuel during takeoff and landing when FLOP Mama is on board, thus the exorbitant cost of maintenance. We're farked on, land, air, and sea under this freaking regime.
