(The Malay Mail) - Police have never closed the files on the case involving the distribution of semi-nude photos of Parti Keadilan Rakyat's (PKR) Selangor executive council member Elizabeth Wong.

Federal CID chief Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin said their investigation had never stopped.

"We never closed the files on the case. Our investigation continues even to this day," he told The Malay Mail.

Asked when police would be liaising with the Indonesian authorities on the case, Mohd Bakri said they were giving their counterparts time to conclude their side of the investigation first.

"We will let them (Indonesian authorities) finish their probe first. Only after that will we discuss the case with them to see if it has any link to the case involving the state exco member."

Last Friday, the Indonesian immigration department detained a Malaysian in Batam for possessing fake documents.

It was reported in the local newspapers that the man had claimed to be an ex-PKR member and on the run to avoid being implicated in a "political intrigue".

Wong's former beau, an aide to PKR's Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Hee Loy Sian, was wanted by police for allegedly spreading her semi-nude pictures on the Internet in 2009.

Mohd Bakri, however, declined to disclose whether the man arrested was the suspect in the case.

"I do not want to confirm this man's identity as it is currently under the purview of the Indonesian police.

I do not have the authority to reveal this. "We have to wait for them to finish first before proceeding."

In last Friday's incident, the Malaysian was detained trying to renew a counterfeit passport and found to be holding a fake Indonesian identity card issued in Batam.

He had also overstayed in Indonesia.
