A motion to debate the detention of five Hindu Rights Action Force leaders under the International Security Act was rejected by the Dewan Rakyat.

The motion was tabled by Karpal Singh (DAP – Bukit Gelugor).

The five who were detained are P. Uthayakumar, M. Manoharan, R. Kenghadharan, V. Ganabatirau and T. Vasanthakumar.

Speaker Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib rejected the motion, saying it was not of an urgent nature as the five were being detained under an existing law and the police were merely doing their job.
