PKR to field more new faces in Penang

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in Penang is expected to field new faces in 60% of the seats it will be contesting in the next general election.

PKR state liaison committee chairman Datuk Zahrain Mohamed Hassim said the state committee had decided to field new faces as the party enjoyed greater public support now compared to last the general election.

“We had few potential candidates to field last time, but this time is different. We have more choices in Penang,” he said.

However, Zahrain declined to reveal the names and the seats.

“We can only announce the lists after our central committee decides the number of seats that we are contesting in Penang,” he told reporters after attending a Hari Raya Haji lunch reception at Sungai Nibong Besar yesterday.

Zahrain said the party had reached a compromise with the state DAP leaders on seat allocation.

“We have agreed that we want to see a straight fight with Barisan Nasional,” he said.
