Burning flags are permitted, candle vigil is barred. Welcome to Malaysian Bolehland

By R. Shan (Human Being)

2000 people march and burn flags in front of the US Embassy and in Kg Baru, and that is okay!!! But, 21 hauled in leading 200 people in a candlelight vigil for the same cause.

The cause, whether it is a political or a humanity issue begs an answer as the mainstream will continue to distort the truth while we the armchair critics remain reticent in our usual "Kedai Kopi cerita" without actually knowing the facts as it is in Bolehland. Semua Boleh.

For the benefit of the doubt, let me provide you with some facts that you may or may not know of GAZA according to Rashid Khalidi, a professor of Arab studies at Columbia University NY.

THE GAZANS
Most of the people living in Gaza are not there by choice. The majority of the 1.5 million people crammed into the roughly 140 square miles of the Gaza Strip belong to families that came from towns and villages outside Gaza like Ashkelon and Beersheba. They were driven to Gaza by the Israeli Army in 1948.

THE OCCUPATION
The Gazans have lived under Israeli occupation since the Six-Day War in 1967. Israel is still widely considered to be an occupying power, even though it removed its troops and settlers from the strip in 2005. Israel still controls access to the area, imports and exports, and the movement of people in and out. Israel has control over Gaza's air space and sea coast, and its forces enter the area at will. As the occupying power, Israel has the responsibility under the Fourth Geneva Convention to see to the welfare of the civilian population of the Gaza Strip.

THE BLOCKADE
Israel's blockade of the strip, with the support of the United States and the European Union, has grown increasingly stringent since Hamas won the Palestinian Legislative Council elections in January 2006. Fuel, electricity, imports, exports and the movement of people in and out of the Strip have been slowly choked off, leading to life-threatening problems of sanitation, health, water supply and transportation.

This war on the people of Gaza isn't really about rockets. Nor is it about "restoring Israel's deterrence," as the Israeli press might have you believe. Far more revealing are the words of Moshe Yaalon, then the Israeli Defense Forces chief of staff, in 2002: "The Palestinians must be made to understand in the deepest recesses of their consciousness that they are a defeated people."

Now, let's appraise why we crave for people like RPK, those in HINDRAF and HARIS IBRAHIM, as they continue to battle to tell the truth that is becoming more and more transparent even through the spinmasters brainwashing efforts.

It is up to us as People Power. We can't be lied to anymore as we can be fooled once but not always!

Today, this mighty voice of humanity, realism and morality is said to be obsolete. Yet we find solace in these platforms that allow individuals like you and I in a collective cause for humanity, truth and reality.

Let's act with conviction, without artificial sensibility for these causes as we all need to trust in each other rather than be prejudiced against the glory of the few or the brainwashed.

Truth, reality and humanity are powerful weapons – see it, feel it, experience it and act upon it and the rest will be history for the nation.

Viva Malaysia, still a Bolehland for humanity, realism and morality as I trust in the humanity that prevails in my fellow Malaysians.
