Wan Ahmad Farid denies giving money to reporters

Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh today denied he had anything to do with the claim that two reporters were given money at the media centre of the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election yesterday.

He said that during the by-election, there would be people out to tarnish his name.

"I don't have any money to offer to anybody… You know people can do anything especially in this by-election.

"It is not from Barisan Nasional, that is for sure. That is not my money," he told reporters after casting his vote at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Pusat Bukit Besar polling centre here.

Wan Ahmad Farid stressed that he wanted to win the by-election in a fair manner and not through unlawful means.

Yesterday, two reporters of a Chinese-language website lodged a police report over an allegation that they had received a white envelope containing money at the media centre. — Bernama
