Go online and register as a voter

The Election Commission (EC) will introduce online voter registration soon to encourage more people, particularly the young, to sign up.

EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said there were four million Malaysians, mostly in their 20s, eligible to vote who had yet to register with the EC.

“We hope that NGOs and political parties will help attract people to register as voters,” he said after an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin at Istana Terengganu here yesterday.

Abdul Aziz said he briefed Tuanku Mizan on the Kuala Terengganu by-election which he described as the best yet and would be used as a benchmark for future elections.

“Tuanku was happy and asked us to conduct our duties fairly, impartially, unbiased and professionally,” said Abdul Aziz. — Bernama
