PKR: Double standards

(Daily Express) Kota Kinabalu: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sabah questioned Umno's stand on party hopping and accused it of practising double standards now that one of its own assemblymen has crossed over to PKR.

"Why (is it that) only now Umno leaders want switching by people's representatives to vacate their seats?

"Was it not Umno which encouraged and enticed PBS assemblymen to cross over to Umno the last time in Sabah, toppling PBS?" asked its State Liaison Deputy Chairman, Daniel John Jambun.

Commenting on the statement by Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Rais Yatim, Daniel said when PBS assemblymen crossed over to Umno, Umno leaders lauded it as "freedom of association" and never demanded them to vacate their seats.

"Umno leaders such as Rais should be ashamed of their double-standard on party hopping now that it involves an Umno leader switching to Pakatan Rakyat."

Daniel also said Rais' call for mass demonstrations in Perak to demand the former Umno assemblyman vacate his seat as irresponsible and unacceptable, especially coming from a veteran leader.
