PM’s big thank you to PR assemblymen who pledged allegiance to BN

(NST) Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has thanked the four Pakatan Rakyat state representatives for their pledges of support towards Barisan Nasional.

Abdullah, who is also BN chairman and Umno president said the coalition accepted their pledges of support and "we want to say thank you to them."

"To my knowledge, the four have yet to become members of any of the BN coalition parties but they have expressed their support for us," he said.

The prime minister said that BN had yet to consider whether to pass a vote-of-no-confidence against the opposition coalition.

"This is certainly an option. If we have the numbers to form the State Government, definitely we will take the necessary steps to do so,” he said.

Abdullah added that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is also Perak BN chief would seek an audience with the Perak Sultan to inform the latter of the majority support the BN had in the state assembly.

Abdullah added that the people in Perak would certainly extend their cooperation and support to a state government that could provide good leadership and carry out development projects.

"They will definitely support a government that could offer them stability and peace."

He was speaking at a Press conference after giving his keynote address at the Ninth Civil Service gathering at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre yesterday.

About 3,000 civil servants from various government ministries, departments and agencies attended the gathering. Also present were cabinet ministers and Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Sidek Hassan.
