Perak Youth Council Wants Action Against Karpal

(Bernama) — The Perak Youth Council wants action under the Internal Security Act (ISA) be taken against DAP chairman Karpal Singh for allegedly jeopardising the country’s security.

Its chairman, Hang Tuah Din, said yesterday: “Karpal Singh should understand and know about unity, as well as not to jeopardise the harmony among the people that has been built for so long”.

He said Karpal’s planned action to take legal action against the Sultan of Perak for not dissolving the Perak State Assembly and allowing the Barisan Nasional to form the new government in the state following the Pakatan Rakyat losing its majority in the state legislature on Friday was cause for his arrest under the ISA because it could cause serious tension, not only in Perak but in the country.

He said the council also hoped the people of Perak would show maturity during the current political turmoil in the state and not to over-react to the point of insulting royalty.

He also urged the Sultan to revoke the “Datuk Seri” title awarded to Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin for refusing to heed the Sultan’s order to vacate the menteri besar’s post.
