Reports against PR leaders for challenging Sultan


(The Star) – Police reports have been lodged against various Pakatan Rakyat leaders for questioning the rights of the Malay Rulers.

Ampang Umno division chief Datuk Ismail Kijo, accompanied by 100 supporters, lodged a report against former Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters here yesterday afternoon.

Ismail said Nizar could be charged under the Sedition Act for refusing to step down from his post, when ordered to by Sultan Azlan Shah of Perak.

Ismail said Nizar’s action had influenced DAP national chairman Karpal Singh to state an intention to take legal action against the Sultan and Barisan Nasional for proceeding with the swearing-in.

In George Town, Penang Umno Youth leaders lodged four police reports over the matter.

Tanjung Umno Youth chief Jeffri Salim, accompanied by about 10 members, lodged the first report against DAP chairman Karpal Singh at the George Town district police headquarters at 10am yesterday.

He said Karpal Singh had acted disrespectfully against the institution of the Malay Rulers.

Kepala Batas Umno Youth secretary Nordin Wahab, accompanied by 25 members, also lodged a similar report against Karpal Singh at the north Seberang Perai district police headquarters in Kepala Batas at 3.30pm.

At 4pm, Bukit Mertajam Umno Youth chief Mohd Fauzi Shariff lodged a report against PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang.

At 4.30pm, Balik Pulau Umno Youth chief Aziaan Ariffin, lodged a report against Karpal Singh, Anwar and Nizar at the Balik Pulau district police headquarters.
