Perak MCA Won’t Force Hee To Join MCA
(Bernama) — MCA will not force Jelapang state assemblywoman Hee Yit Foong to join the party although she is now an independent member since leaving DAP.
MCA Youth Chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said it was not the right time for MCA to force Hee into joining MCA or any other party for the matter, as the immediate task was to strengthen Barisan Nasional's (BN) presence in Perak.
"The most important thing is that all three independent assemblyman had declared their support for BN and it is entirely up to them to decide how long they want to remain independent," Wee who is also deputy education minister told reporters at the Johor Baharu MCA organised Chinese New Year celebrations here today.
He added that though MCA had only one state assembly seat in Perak – Chendering – MCA deputy youth chief Dr Mah Hang Soon who won the seat was capable of helping the party to beef up BN.
"We already have a representative in Perak and know what to do. What is important now is to carry out the mandate given to BN in Perak," he said.
In Perak, BN and Pakatan Rakyat are tied on 28 seats while three more seats belong to independent candidates, namely Hee and two other former Parti Keadilan Rakyat members Capt (rtd) Mohd Osman Jailu (Changkat Jering) and Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi (Behrang).
The trio had pledged their support for BN which prompted the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah to give BN his consent to take over the state government from Pakatan Rakyat.
