After the coup d’etat, Perak gets a ‘funny’ cabinet


UPDATE: According to latest report, the 'advisers' mentioned below would cost Perak taxpayers RM250,000 a year each! Yes, the losers get RM250,000 each. Now, this is not funny but more like a daylight robbery.

Out of 10 exco positions, ‘BN’s menteri besar’ Zambry Abdul Kadir has only managed to fill up six of them, as reported yesterday. What’s interesting (and perhaps surprising) is that none of those four ‘frogs’ involved in the coup d’etat is on the list.

And what happened today is even more interesting. According to Malaysiakini, four advisers with exco status are appointed by Zambry. Let’s exmine the four of them to understand why I say ‘funny’:

  1. Gerakan’s Chang Ko Youn, lost in the Beruas parliamentary seat in Mar 2008, is appointed adviser for Chinese community affairs.

  2. MIC’s S Veerasingam, lost in the Sungkai state seat in Mar 2008, is appointed adviser for Indian community affairs.

  3. Mohd Najumuddin Elies and Hamdi Abu Bakar are both elected state assemblypersons but are not given an exco position.
