The Never Changing Prelude

Racial political remarks have always been made by former and current Umno leaders. Leaders in the future would as well do the same. Because it is the mindset of Umno. It has never changed and it is not going to change.

Jerlun MP Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, Former Selangor MB Datuk Seri Dr Khir Toyo and Umno Youth Deputy Chief Khairy Jamaluddin have again debated recently.

The host got straight to the point and asked Khairy's opinion on being referred as Umno's negative equity. Khairy did not get angry but smiled instead, he replied that he has gone to the ground and talked out from the masses, so that Umno grassroots could again find out about him. He also stressed that Umno Youth needs him to bring out the voices of young people.

In other words, it means 44-year-old Dr Khir is too old while Mukhriz is not young enough to understand Mat Rempit's (illegal street racers), oops! Sorry, I mean the younger generation's voices.

Amidst the voices calling for changes, Khairy came out with opposing views. He believed that Umno is actually not so bad. The party is just being deliberately discredited by the Opposition. Therefore, he thought packaging is more important than changes.

"But he was just saying it to please the party members. Leaders say whatever that would please the members."

In fact, it should not be surprising. This is in fact the thought of the youngest Umno Youth Chief candidate. Don't take the idea lightly as it can help to gain many votes in Umno.

Although Dr Khir is older that Khairy, he is not a simple character either. From state Menteri Besar to the opposition leader of the state, he has been playing a very aggressive role. I believe that he has earned a lot of credits in Elizabeth Wong's nude photo incident, which has very much troubled Pakatan Rakyat. He would even win a distinction if it could change the Selangor state regime. Dr Khir stressed that Umno should return to the early period when the party was first founded. His remarks on Malay racism and religious struggles would earn him supports.

Meanwhile, Mukhriz, who managed the most nominations with his father's remaining power and influences, had to come out with some harsh words under the competitive atmosphere of the party election, such as advocating the single school system to enhance unity among people of various races. But he was just saying it to please the party members. Leaders say whatever that would please the members.

Racial political remarks have always been made by former and current Umno leaders. Leaders in the future would as well do the same. Because it is the mindset of Umno. It has never changed and it is not going to change.

This is the prelude for the Umno General Assembly. It is very clear what will be coming up next.
