Here’s a dramatic twist to the Perak Conundrum…
HRH SULTAN AZLAN SHAH DID NOT HAVE A CHOICE – IT WAS EITHER ACCEPT NAJIB OR LOSE THE THRONE OF PERAK IN A FEW MONTHS.
There was controversy when Azlan was elected as Raja Muda (Crown Regent) because his mother is a commoner and was therefore considered an outsider.
In fact it is believed that he lived outside the royal community when he was growing up.
It is now understood that hrh Sultan Azlan Shah was put to the throne by Mahathir since there were claims for the throne of Perak from the descendants of Sultan Idris, uncle of Sultan Azlan.
