Sarawak DAP to deal ‘only with Anwar’

(NST) KUCHING: Sarawak DAP on Sunday laid down one of the ground rules on how it would conduct talks with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) on the allocation of seats among the two opposition parties in the next state election.

The party made it clear that it would only talk to PKR's de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"We will not talk to any state PKR leaders," DAP chairman and Bukit Assek assemblyman Wong Ho Leng said after a meeting with Anwar here.

The condition was seen as a move to avoid the bad blood that developed between state PKR and DAP leaders after the allocation of seats in last year's parliamentary election. The two parties fought bitterly over how Chinese-majority seats should be allocated.

Wong was one of three DAP leaders who met Anwar at a hotel here. The others were Kidurong assemblyman Chiew Chiu Sing and Sarawak DAP founder Chong Siew Chang.

Wong said one consensus reached with Anwar was that there should be a one-against-one contest in all constituencies.
