Abdullah pooh-poohs RM20m offer to cross over

(NST) The offer of RM20 million for Pakatan Rakyat state assemblymen to cross over is a "work of fiction", Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said.

"I don't know about it at all. It could just be stories people make up. It certainly makes it more exciting … all these allegations, assumptions and accusations," he said after launching the Social Security Net programme here yesterday.

He was commenting on Malim Nawar state assemblyman Keshvinder Singh and Kuala Kurau state assemblyman Abdul Yunus Jamsar who lodged reports with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday, claiming that they received offers of money and posts to lure them to leave DAP and PKR respectively.

Keshvinder had claimed that a freelance reporter had offered him and also Jelapang state assemblywoman Hee Yit Foong RM20 million to leave the party and become independents.

On the upcoming by-elections, Abdullah said Barisan Nasional would focus on all the constituencies, instead of paying attention to just one and losing the rest.
