My Dear RPK, Heaven Awaits You

By R. Shan (Human Being)

The latest spate of events and RPK's timely article on the direction of the esteemed commentors is a dose between quality and quantity. You say it this way, they say that, you say it that way, they say this. It is a neverending battle for how the Malaysians are conditioned.

In my view, Malaysians are only conditioned one way — what do I get out of it without any action and effort to make the wrong to be right as long it serves my own purpose.

Do you really think any armchair critic is going to make a difference to our Malaysia Boleh mentality?

Why do we want RPK to justify himself? He may be society's soothsayer and he helps enlighten us from the truth we try to hide from (but which is the undeniable reality) but he is only human. He is only doing what he feels is right.

Let us rewind to twenty two years past. There was no issue on race, color, religion but only a society that cares for one another. Today, it is dissipated for the glory of the few in the pretext of law, order and the segmentation of the society. Why do we allow this to happen only GOD and you will know and probably many would have lost hope or be in despair with our own society.

But then again, Bersih, Hindraf, Batu Buruk, BMC, RPK and Anwar could not have survived if not for the tinge of humanity still left in all of us. There is a lot in us individually that we should use as a platform for an uprising of the Malaysian society against unnatural acts under the guise of law and order.

All that is happening is possibly is a blessing in disguise to strengthen our will and desire to achieve the goal for the society we live in against a repressive administration that has taken us for a long, long ride in their merry-go-round.

In Malaysia today, we Malaysians need to value our lives for what it is within our society. Yes, quality not quantity. RPK is a classic example of quality; a one-man army against the whole system in his cause for truth and justice.

We, the Malaysian society, need to build on the quality that we have in ourselves and not the quantity that seems to be holding water these days. What good is your freedom of speech if it only serves you alone?

We must act together as Malaysians, feel proud and hope that we Malaysians can collectively act to make the change for our society. We can only do that if our fellow Malaysians can peel the layers to see what is trust, conscience, truth, fairness and humanity to create a Malaysian society.

As long as we do not care and do not act on what we care about, those who wish to tyrannize will do so without a second thought.

Hey!! I am not against law and order but we should not fathom a situation when all government apparatus are used to silence the voice of the public as and when it warrants only to serve those in power and privilege.

Our docile act of imbibed doctrine and unrealistic and superficial respect for authority has been our greatest enemy for the truth, fairness, justice and humanity that we seek for the society over the last twenty-five years.

The rakyat needs to have an awakening to see what the fair playground is, so that the interests of the rakyat and humanity are protected. Once the interests of the rakyat and humanity are protected, your personal interest is protected.

We, the rakyat, should not think and act as though we are helpless and ineffectual. It is we who dictate the course of our country and until and when we decide to act collectively without fear and intimidation, to show how despotic this government is with its machinery in trying to maintain what they feel is their status as our masters, it is never going to change.

Fear, intimidation and inability are not in the habit of speaking the truth. To fight fear, intimidation and inability, one must recognize one's own responsibility for the values for which we stand for collectively. It must be expressed in the way we think and how we deal with our fellow humans.

We need RPK more than ever now and the public needs to get its act together to support his cause. Let’s show the government’s purported luminaries that RPK has sowed quality seeds in all of us.
