Ong Frustrated With Deputy’s Blame Game

(Bernama) — MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat is frustrated with his deputy, Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek constantly blaming him for the latter's involvement in a sex scandal.

"Last year, he blamed my predecessor (Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting) and now, he blames me.

"He (Dr Chua) blames the media for playing up the issue (scandal)," the transport minister told reporters after attending a Christmas and Chinese New Year open house organised by his ministry today.

Dr Chua, the former health minister, resigned from all political posts when a sex DVD involving Dr Chua, surfaced in January, last year.

Currently, the police are investigating him for allegedly engaging in oral sex after receiving a copy of the sex DVD.

In the party elections in October last year, Dr Chua made a political comeback after winning the deputy president's post.

On his relationship with Dr Chua, Ong said their personal relationship was not the issue.

What was important was the team and team work, he said.

Ong believed that whatever problem would not cause a rift in the party as he enjoyed a good working relationship with other team members.

The party president said, when other team members extended good cooperation to him (Ong), they were being labelled as the "president men" by certain quarters in the party.
