Should not the Batang Ai by-election be first in time, even before the two Bukits?

Plainly, since May last year, Dublin did not attend any sittings of the state legislative assembly. He would most certainly have been absent ‘for three consecutive meetings’.

First, my condolences to the family of the late Yang Berkhidmat Dublin Unting and the constituents of Batang Ai.

Before Dublin took his place in the state legislative assembly upon his election as the state assemblyman of Batang Ai during the Sarawak state elections in 2006, and thereafter, before assuming his duties as Sarawak Assistant Minister for Sports and Agriculture, he took two oaths as precribed by the Sarawak state constitution.

The oath under Article 22, before taking his seat in the legislative assembly, and the oath prescribed under Article 8, before exercising his ministerial functions and duties.

Now, both the oaths entailed an affirmation by Dublin to faithfully discharge the duties of those offices in question.

Dublin lapsed into a coma in May, last year and, it seems, according to a Malaysiakini report , never regained consciousness until he passed on today.
