Kapar MP S. Manikavasagam has filed an application to compel former Sentul police chief ACP K. Kumaran to answer questions relating to the mysterious death of actress K.Sujatha.

Among the questions asked were about the conclusion of the investigation on Sujatha’s death, if she was murdered by anyone and if she had any connections with a politician’s son.

He filed the papers for ACP Kumaran to answer in a RM10mil defamation suit.

On Aug 8, 2007, ACP Kumaran filed the suit against Manikavasagam and three others in relation to a news report on the death of Sujatha that allegedly defamed him.

The three others are Makkal Osai editor M. Rajintheram, the Tamil daily and its printer.

The suit is set for mention before Justice Abdul Wahab Patail on March 5.

Manikavasagam filed the papers on Thursday under “application for interrogatories” at the High Court Civil registry at 10.23am through his lawyer N. Surendran.

After the filing of the papers, Surendran told reporters that his client was seeking to get a court order to make ACP Kumaran to answer 11 questions.

“It is an attempt to get the truth on how Sujatha died,” he said.

The questions were also asked if ACP Kumaran had any relations with a senior politician and leaders of a political party.

Surendran said ACP Kumaran had to reply within 14 days after the court order for him to do so in the form of an affidavit.
