Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam(pix) said today that Pas and PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) should be blamed for disrespecting the Malay rulers, the rights of Malay and for creating confusion among Malaysians with their various political agendas.

Ali Rustam said it was because of these two parties that DAP is now insulting the Sultans and touching on sensitive issues.

“All the political problems in Malaysia today are caused by Pas and PKR. It’s all their fault. That is why even their followers are also kurang ajar

“As a result, even DAP’s Karpal (Singh) is bravely attacking and insulting the Sultan (of Perak)," he told reporters after launching the Malacca food promotion campaign at a hotel here.

“If Karpal says he is King, I would say he is ‘sink’,” said Ali Rustam, referring to a statement made by Karpal last week that ‘Singh is King’.

“PAS has even insulted the Malays…they talk all kinds of things sometime. At times, they say they support the (sovereignty of) Malays rulers…but other times they insult,” he said.

Asked on the prospect of Pas merging with Barisan Nasional as reported in a local media recently, Ali Rustam said he had not read of any such a thing, and even if there were talks of the merger, he was not sure what it would entail.

“We can never be sure of Pas…What they talk and what they do are completely different,” he added.

Earlier, he said Malacca expects to attract 7.4 million tourists this year despite the global economic slowdown.

“We are coming up with various initiatives to further attract tourists,” he said.

Among the new attractions coming up in Malacca in the near future include a theme park, a 1.7km long go-cart circuit as well as a 57-lane bowling complex.

“The upcoming monorail system will further enhance transportation in the city and there will be many more attractions coming up.

He said the state government will also further enhance the state tourism’s 12 sub-sectors such as agro tourism, sports, convention, shopping, cultural, history, recreation, healthcare, food industry, Malacca second home programme and youth tourism.

“In these tough times, tourists can consider Malacca an attractive location because we have everything,” he added.
