Wong: We must go for change or be doomed

(The Star) – A POLITICAL party that does not move forward with time is destined to be abandoned by the people, MCA secretary-general Datuk Wong Foon Meng said.

He said there should not be an end to its reforms and it should move to better itself as politics was a lifelong journey.

“We are now experiencing great difficulties after the March 8 general election and with Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat’s leadership, the MCA is set to start a new page,” he said.

Wong said the theme, 60 Years of Building Dreams, A Lifelong Commit-ment to Service, was timely as it reflected the party’s commitment to continuously transform towards a better direction by fulfilling the aspirations and needs of the people.

“It is also very timely because both MCA and the Barisan Nasional are facing an uncertain political future.

“The commitment and loyalty of party members are important for MCA to make a comeback,” he said.

He said the party must also learn from its past as it faced the challenges in the future.

“We must constantly reflect on the difficulties that our forefathers went through and their determination to struggle for the party.”
