MIC amused by body tampering claim

(The Star) – The authorities must investigate the Serdang Hospital director’s allegation that a mob of 50 people had tampered with the body of A. Kugan on Jan 20, said MIC Youth coordinator T. Mohan.

“We are amused by the latest claims of the director, said Dr Mohd Norzi Ghazali, after his earlier claims were crippled by the video proof.

“If the accusations are not proven, Dr Mohd Norzi should be suspended with immediate effect,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Kugan died on Jan 20 at the Taipan police station in Subang Jaya, five days after he was arrested in connection with the theft of luxury cars.

Dr Mohd Norzi had in March said a mob had tampered with the body before any post-mortem could be carried out.

Mohan also said the second post-mortem report has listed the causes of death of Kugan as blunt trauma and kidney failure – not breathing difficulties as claimed by the Selangor chief police officer Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar.

“We want Khalid and Dr Abdul Karim Tajudin of Serdang Hospital who performed the first post-mortem on Kugan to be investigated for false accusations and be suspended from their duties,” he said.

Mohan said many were shocked the policemen responsible for causing Kugan’s death had been transferred to a desk job without any action being taken against them.

“We are monitoring each step taken by the police force and other relevant authorities. We want justice for Kugan,” he said.
