Three hot spots in Bukit Selambau

(The Star) ALOR SETAR: Three areas in Bukit Selambau have been identified as hot spots that need close police monitoring and supervision because they are opposition and Barisan Nasional strongholds.

Kedah police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan said reinforcements would be deployed to the three places before nomination day until polling day to watch over public safety and security.

“Federal police will be briefed and we will request for more policemen to be deployed to the areas to ensure public safety and securit,” he said.

Nomination day for the Bukit Selambau state by-elections has been fixed for March 29 and polling has been scheduled for April 7.

The Bukit Selambau state seat was vacated after V. Arumugam tendered his resignation for the state executive council seat and the state seat on Feb 8.

The by-election will be held on the same day as the polls for the Bukit Gantang parliamentary seat in Perak and the Batang Ai state seat in Sarawak.
