Hasten sex DVD probe

THE police should speed up their probe into two DVD recordings allegedly featuring former Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek engaging in sexual acts with a woman to allay concerns among the people that they practise double standards.

DAP's Bukit Kepayang assemblyman Cha Kee Chin said it had been more than a year since the DVDs surfaced but findings by the police had not been forthcoming.

'There is the confession by Dr Chua that he was the one featured on the DVD. There is also the evidence recorded on the DVD. What is the police waiting for?' he asked.

'This will only give fodder to the people to think that the police practise double standards.

'They will surely ask why the investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct against Pakatan Rakyat leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was quick but not against Dr Chua,' said Mr Cha, who is a practising lawyer.

The DVDs allegedly featuring Dr Chua was first discovered in Muar and Batu Pahat in Johor in December 2007. Many residents received the DVDs which were dropped into their mailboxes.

The first disc, which was 60 minutes' long, consisted four different angles of a single black and white recording of what appeared to have transpired in a hotel room.

The second disc is a close-up shot from above the bed. It is not known who made the recordings. On Jan 1 last year, Chua who was then MCA vice-president admitted that he was the person in both the DVDs and that the woman was his personal friend. — THE STAR/ANN
