Motion filed to suspend MP Gobind Singh for a year

KUALA LUMPUR: A motion has been filed to suspend Gobind Singh Deo (DAP – Puchong) for a year for making allegations against Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak that he was involved in a murder case and also committing parliamentary contempt against the speaker.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Abd Aziz will be tabling the motion at 11.30am on Monday under Standing Order 27 (1).
The motion states that Gobind Singh Deo had accused Najib last Thursday and had also defied Deputy Speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee order to leave the House.
It states that the allegation was serious in nature, breaching the rights and privileges of MP and in contempt of the House.
Nazri said the house would open for debate after the motion was tabled.
“The house will vote for a decision after the debate,” said Nazri.
Gobind Singh Deo stands to lose the allowances and facilities that an MP is entitled to during the suspension period if the motion is passed.
On Thursday, Gobind Singh was ejected from the house for the third time when he kept speaking about Mongolian Altantuya Sharibuu’s murder case after the chair ordered him to stop.
Ronald ruled it was subjudice to talk about a case that was before the court.
Gobind continued to do so, prompting Ronald to order him out.
The incident took place after Najib finished replying to points raised during the debate on the mini budget.
