MCA backs Najib’s ‘One Malaysia’ concept

(The Star) – The MCA supports Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s “One Malaysia” concept in governing the country where policies made will benefit all Malaysians.

Its vice-president, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, said Najib had assured the people that fairness would be dealt out and decisions made by the Government would not favour any one group.

“Malaysia must unite and work together with policies that look after the interests of all races,” Liow told a press conference at Cheras Leisure Mall here yesterday.

He said there was a lot of politicking after the March 8 general election last year and it was time for leaders to focus on reviving the economy.

“If we play too much politics, there will be more challenges to face and we need to unite to overcome them,” Liow added.

He said the party agreed with Najib’s call to improve the government delivery system so that its machinery would be more effective and that there would be synergy in implementing the country’s policies.

Asked to comment on the treatment of party deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek for his sexual offence compared to that of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Liow said: “In law, everybody is equal. Let the law take its course.”
