Perak issue: No escape for PKR reps

(The Star) – There is no escape for the five members of the State Assembly Rights and Privileges Committee who have defied orders to have their statements recorded by the police.

Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said the Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen were still expected to give their statements to the police although action had yet to be taken against them for defying earlier requests to do so.

“We are giving them another chance to come forward to give their statements. They will be notified of the date and time later,” he told reporters after the launch of a Community Policing programme in Little India here Wednesday.

DCP Zulkifli added that the matter had been referred to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action.

The five — Ong Boon Piow, Loke Chee Yan, Sum Cheok Leng, Chan Ming Kai and Husin Din — had earlier this month said they would not be talking to the police in connection with the suspension of Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and his six exco members from the state assembly.
