THIS OLD MAN

This old man, I shook his hands once, and was proud for what I thought was a great Statesman, after all we can look back with pride that Malaysia had come along way to be a modern nation.

“This old man, he played one, he played knickknack on my bum, with a knickknack paddy whack, give a dog a bone. This old man came rolling home.”

In the past, I used to ignore when the old man spoke his piece. But his last piece really got on my nerve. His advice to the UMNO delegates sounded so absurd, and so desperate, it really got on my nerve.

This old man had been given a platform again to voice his grievances, and boy, he was practically spitting out his grievances like machine gun fire. During the Abdullah administration his voice was somewhat curtailed, until he was forced to come out with his own blog ( CD.com). However, the adverse comments on his blog, simply overwhelmed his IT officers ability to delete them, against the supportive comments that do get published. He knows for a fact that, the majority of Malaysians doesn’t take kindly to his thoughts.  And he knows for a fact that he will never be able to garner the support of the majority again.

What stood out like a sore thumb, was when he said that the Malays are under threat and that the supremacy of the Malays should not be questioned.

This sort of rhetoric are the signs of a very desperate ex-politician, trying to revive his grand dreams of clinging to power. It is not only seditious, it also stinks to the core.

It is very sad that he still takes the Malays for granted, and still points to the Malay Race as weak and handicapped. What he is saying is disgraceful, and hurts the pride of the Malays. Malays has learnt to stand on their own two feet, without help from the government, and many has given up hope on these unfulfilled promises.

Those who are still standing in line are the UMNO elite, hoping to get another project to tide over and sustain their lavish lifestyles. The rest of the Malays manages to carve out a living from their own efforts. And having high flying politicians telling is that we are special, and we must preserve our rights against the ‘pendatangs’ is simply outrageous.

These politicians will disgrace the Malays by reminding us that  we are still weak, economically, religiously, morally, and that we are under threat is simply too much to stomach.

That we need to unite, and vote for them instead of the opposition, so that they can continue to fight for our rights. But the sad fact is that They still continue to belittle the Malays in public., that is why, it’s not surprising when non –Malays themselves starts to look down on Malays?

Non Malays look down on the Malays by what the politicians imply.

This old man, I shook his hands once, and was proud for what I thought was a great Statesman, after all we can look back with pride that Malaysia had come along way to be a modern nation.
That is why I feel today, that this man has really lost his marbles, and whatever respect the Rakyat had for him in the past, has been totally erased by his unprovoked outburst.

As far as one can see, the Malay race has achieved supremacy. We have a Malay Sultanate and a King that rules this country. A Prime Minister and the Cabinet, a government that are our (government) servants. We have a modern and effective Police and Armed Forces, and many so called Towers of the Nation. Malays are proud to that effect and we share our success with all other citizens of this country without any murmur. Yet our politicians, with a bad inferiority complex continues to insult and belittle the Malays in public for the rest of the citizens to see.

Based on his outburst, one can see that he has lost total respect for the Rakyat, and is pitting the Rakyat against each other, even though he is no longer in the Cabinet.
Once again, I say that Malays, are proud to be living among other races. We are a cultural melting pot and we want to be addressed as Malaysians and not by our race.
