Dissolve state assembly, MB told

(The Star) KUALA TERENGGANU: An Opposition assemblyman in Terengganu has called on Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said to dissolve the state assembly and call for fresh elections.

PAS’ Batu Burok state assemblyman Dr Syed Azman Syed Ahmad Nawawi said this was in light of talk of a move to table a vote of no confidence against Ahmad when the assembly session begins today.

“The Mentri Besar should avoid any possible constitutional crisis in the state,” he said here yesterday.

On Saturday, Ahmad warned that any Barisan Nasional representative attempting to table a motion against him would face disciplinary action, including expulsion.

Ahmad, who is also Terengganu Umno chief, described such a move as detrimental to the state Barisan.

It is learnt that four Barisan assemblymen from the state left for Kuala Lumpur to meet deputy Umno president Tan Sri Muhiyiddin Yassin over the “mentri besar issue”.

Meanwhile, mStar Online reported that Ajil assemblyman Datuk Rosol Wahid had given his word that he would not table any motion of no confidence against Ahmad.

He strongly denied the suggestion that he was leading the Barisan assemblymen to make such a move.
