Perak State Secretary: Suspension of assembly secretary invalid

(Bernama) – Perak State Assembly Speaker V. Sivakumar’s suspension of assembly secretary Abdullah Antong Sabri as reported by the media today is invalid and cannot be enforced, said Perak State Secretary Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Hashim.

He said the post of Perak state assembly secretary came under the administrative and diplomatic service, which was approved by the state authority through an establishment warrant signed by the Perak mentri besar.

"The appointment process and filling of the post needs the approval of the Public Service Department. Subsequently, as the Perak State Secretary and on behalf of the state government, I will issue an official letter of appointment for the assembly secretary.

"Thus, I wish to inform that neither the PSD nor the state government or I have taken any action against Abdullah," he said today.

Abdul Rahman said that as such Abdullah remained the legitimate assembly secretary and had the power to exercise his duties as stipulated.

"This also means that the suspension of Abdullah by Speaker V. Sivakumar as reported by the media is invalid and cannot be enforced," he said.

At a press conference at his office in Bangunan Darul Ridzuan here this afternoon, Sivakumar had announced that he had agreed to appoint Mohd Misbahul Munir Marduki in place of Abdullah as assembly secretary until he (Sivakumar) issued a further decision.
