Gagasan Melayu Perak Lodges Police Report Against Malaysiakini

(Bernama) — Gagasan Melayu Perak (GMP) today lodged a police report against the 'MalaysiaKini' website for allegedly insulting the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, and the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah, through the publication of the news headlined "Raja Nazrin Defends Monarchy Against Ridicule" on Tuesday.

The report was made by GMP president, Datuk Seri Mohd Hilmi Ismail, at 5pm today at the Sungai Senam Police Station, here.

Mohd Hilmi told reporters that the police report was lodged because the GMP considered the news carried by the website as rude and discourteous to the monarchy in the state.

He said the GMP also hoped that the Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture would take action against the website for abusing the information technology without considering the implication on national security.
