Indonesia: The authorities covering true story says model’s mother
While the local newspapers and television stations have said naught on the blowing affair of Manohara Odelia Pinot, the beautiful Indonesian sweetheart and model of 17 years of age, the Indonesian press is blasting the Malaysian authorities for complicity and for covering up the true story of her ordeal.
"Saya yakin itu untuk mengcounter pemberitaan-pemberitaan yang ada saat ini," kat Daisy di Komnas Perempuan di Jalan Latuharhari, Jakarta Pusat, Kamis (24/4/2009), the Detiknews reported. The story made the rounds of a large number of blogs in Indonesia and was even mentioned by some local TV stations. It is now a national affair due to the huge sense of ‘nationalism’ felt by Indonesians when one of their national is mistreated in Malaysia.
Daisy, the mother of Manohara said she believed her daughter is in grave danger and was wounded in an incident between Manohara and the Kelantan Prince, her husband for less than 1 year. The family says the Royal Palace mistreated them and that their daughter is being treated as an object, not loved by the Royal family.
The sister of Mano (as she is commonly called by the family) added that the pictures issued by the Kelantan Palace to the press, which shows Mano in form and happy to be with the royal family and in fuctions, are old pictures that are intended to ‘confuse’ the people.
