Three arrested for trying to deliver cake to PM

(The Malaysian Insider) – Police arrested three members of the opposition this morning as they tried to deliver a cake to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in conjunction with the birthday of murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu.

They were stopped in front of Najib’s office in Putrajaya. Altantuya would have been 31 today.

The trio — Sani Md Shah,  Saufi Mihat and Yasir Sheikh Abdul Rahman — were members of Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia, which is linked to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

The 2kg butter cake with white icing was carried by Sani while the other two held up a banner which read: “Happy Birthday Altantuya”

The group were hoping to present the cake along with a letter from the dead model’s father.

About 40 police personnel put an end to it, and all three and cake have been taken to police headquarters in Putrajaya.

Najib’s close associate Abdul Razak Baginda was tried for her murder but was acquitted last October without being asked to present a defence.

The two police officers linked and tried with him were found guilty of killing Altantuya. The death row inmates are appealing their conviction.
