Rogue cops in shootout with drug syndicate

(The Star) – Several rogue policemen and members of a drug syndicate were involved in a shoot-out on Saturday following an unauthorised “raid”.

The incident is believed to have occurred at around 4pm on Saturday at a condominium unit in Ampang where the officers from several departments had gone to meet the syndicate members.

The shoot-out only came to light after one of the syndicate members was spotted in his blood-soaked clothes.

The 18-year-old had apparently fled the apartment and somehow made his way to his home in Nilai.

A neighbour alerted the police who later found the teenager lying unconscious by the roadside with gunshot wounds in his body.

He was rushed to the Seremban hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

A police report was subsequently lodged and an operation organised by Selangor police resulted in three arrests including that of two police officers.

Sources said that police were investigating the reason for the clandestine raid and had not ruled out the possibility that the rogue policemen were trying to get protection money from the syndicate.

It is learnt that more people are expected to be picked up soon.
