60,000 Umno information machinery workers ignorant of tasks

(Bernama) KUALA TERENGGANU: More than 60,000 Umno information machinery workers in all branches throughout the country could not carry out their tasks as they did not understand the responsibilities entrusted to them.

Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan said many of them did not know what to do as they were not informed of their actual task as members of the party information machinery.

"There are 20,000 Umno branch information machinery nationwide, and this figure does not include the 18,000 Wanita information heads, 15,000 Youth information heads and 7,000 Puteri information heads.

"The figure is large but many do not know their tasks and do not know what to do," he told reporters after attending a special meeting with the Information Committees of the four levels of Umno in Terengganu, here today, which was also attended by Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said.

In this context, he said he was determined to activate all the existing machinery to face the 13th general election.

He said he would go down to meet with all the information heads of the Umnio divisions and instruct them to identify the information machinery at the branch levels and activate them.
