DPM urges BN to stick to common Perak stand

(The Malaysian Insider) PUTRAJAYA, May 19 — A series of divergent views from component party leaders have prompted Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today to urge Barisan Nasional (BN) politicians to stick to a common stand on the Perak crisis.

The deputy prime minister said it is best to follow Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s opinion when he was asked about MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek agreeing with PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa that dissolving the Perak assembly could solve the impasse.

“I was not informed about the meeting, perhaps the Prime Minister has been informed, whatever it is as mentioned by Datuk Seri Najib earlier, decision on this matter will only be made after the appeal is heard,” Muhyiddin said, referring to by Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir’s appeal to set aside a High Court ruling that Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin is the rightful Perak mentri besar.

“It was his personal view, not the party’s stand I don’t think MCA would take such a stand,” he told reporters here.

Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, said expressing personal views that contradict the decisions of the leadership does not reflect the spirit of cooperation and unity in BN and such views are also open to misinterpretation.

“Everyone in Malaysia has his own view but when one is in a party one has to stick to the consensus reached by the party leaders in Barisan Nasional,”

“If you want to ask there 27 million views in Malaysia,” he added.

Dr Chua’s meeting with Husam which was revealed yesterday was part of an attempt by the Kelantan state executive councillor to form a political front with all parties who support the dissolution of the Perak assembly.

Last Saturday Husam met with Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah who had also called for fresh polls in order to end the Perak crisis.
