Man alleges assault by police officer

(NST) SEREMBAN: A 31-year-old man yesterday claimed a policeman assaulted him after he called the police for help at his house in Jalan Sikamat, near here, on May 5.

In the 11.35pm incident, Mohamad Jasmi Abdul Wahab claimed he had had a misunderstanding with his neighbours and called the police for help.

"A police car was dispatched and two uniformed policemen came to my house.

"However, suddenly, one of the officers started hitting and kicking me and then aimed his gun at my head.

"The police officer later slapped my wife and took RM150 from her, while the other officer only stood aside and watched," he alleged.

He added that he suffered injuries to his ears and body while his wife's left cheek was swollen after the alleged assault occurred.

It is learnt that Jasmi had issues with his neighbour and had previously called the police on four different occasions.

Jasmi sought the help of Seremban MP John Fernandez, who said he would raise the matter with the police and the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission.
