M’sian politician’s son caught with drugs
(The Star) KOTA BARU, MALAYSIA: Police arrested the son of a politician from Machang and seized 1,176 psychotropic pills worth RM50,000 (S$20,690) found in his car in a raid in Machang on Sunday.
Acting Machang OCPD Assistant Superintendent of Police Loo Lian Lay said police arrested the 27-year-old suspect at 1.30am as soon as he came out of a friend's house.
The pills were believed to have been brought in from a neighbouring country and was meant for buyers in the district.
The suspect was arrested by the district anti-narcotics department, he said at his office.
ASP Loo also said that the case was investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
