The end for B..End

The key component of the success of any political party is about public perception. The truth is less important.

1. Malaysian politics is not unique. It is not different from any other countries around the world that operates a system of democracy. The degree of democracy varies from one country to another. Some people may argue that there is more democracy in Malaysia compared to Singapore but much less if we were to compare to India.

2. The key component of the success of any political party is about public perception. The truth is less important. Public perception can bring down the government of the day. Certainly people always enjoy listening to the tangential views put forward by any opposition party compared to the same old tempo that is being crooned by the government of the day. If politician can deliver what is essentially simulating and not moving along the mainstream, they will get the attention of the public and hence change the public perception.

3. In the case of Perak, though the Appeals Court has unanimously passed a verdict that Zambry is the MB, it is not easily accepted by the masses. The masses in this case represent people in Perak as well as outside Perak. In the mind of the people our courts are not truly clean. The judges can be bought easily. It is indeed sad but the reality is that the negative perception is something that was created by the BN government themselves.

4. Firstly, every one knows that the CJ Zaki is a senior member of UMNO. If I am not mistaken he was in the Chairman of UMNO election committee as well Chairman of UMNO disciplinary board. When the case of Zambry Vs Nizar when to courts, we could see the speed of things being done through the system to aide Zambry.

5. Zambry manage to escalate the issue of his suspension directly to the Federal Court bypassing the other lower courts. His lawyers manage to convince the Federal Court easily and giving a result that is against Article 72 of the Federal Constitution. In the recent event, the Appeals court gave Zambry the stay of execution within hours after the KL High court announces that Nizar is the MB. Similarly when Nizar lawyers applied the same, they have to wait a long time and their case was heard recently.

6. The public had always believe and expected that Nizar to lose. Many streets bookies do not want to take a bet that Nizar will win. That is how bad the public perception was. No doubt that the court has declared that Zambry is the winner but in reality almost everyone that is non partisan that I talk to question the credibility of the Malaysian Courts. PR has managed to win the public perception.
