Aminah has more to reveal

(The Star) BUKIT MERTAJAM: Former state PKR Wanita chief Aminah Abdullah, an independent candidate in the Penanti by-election, is claiming she has another audio recording.

This one, she says, is of her being ridiculed by five PKR male leaders, including state chairman Datuk Zahrain Mohamed Hasim, during tea break at a party gathering nearly two years ago in a hotel in Jawi near here.

“I quit because I felt betrayed,” said Aminah who claimed she had recorded the incident, but was not sure whether to release it or not.

“I do not think it is necessary (to reveal it for now). If he challenges me, I will reveal it,” she told reporters at her operations centre in Simpang Tiga, Kubang Ulu here yesterday.

On Tuesday, Aminah lodged a report with the Election Commission over her allegations of being offered cash and posts in connection with the by-election.

She also handed over a CD, which allegedly contained recordings of the offers made to her by two PKR leaders and three pictures of the alleged meeting.

Aminah also claimed she would make another major announcement when the time was right.

On Zahrain’s allegation that she had not done much when she was state PKR Wanita chief, Aminah shot back, asking if he had done enough as the state chief.

On PKR vice-president Azmin Ali calling her Minah Ronggeng (folk dancer) at a ceramah, Aminah sarcastically thanked him for the title, noting that he had previously advised her against name-calling during elections.

Zahrain, when contacted, said he did not wish to respond to Aminah’s allegations for now.

“If she wants to take me to court, let her do so. But, if she says anything out of context (about me) I will, in turn, sue her,” he said.

In George Town, Penang PAS commissioner Mohd Salleh Man said the allegations by Aminah that PKR supreme council member Cheah Kah Peng and Peter Lim Eng Nam wanted to bribe her with posts, would not affect Pakatan Rakyat’s prospects of retaining the state seat.

Meanwhile, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state government would never tolerate bribery or corruption. If there was enough evidence, action would be taken against those involved.
