Waving the white flag
Contrary to its stated position, UMNO is contesting in Penanti via backdoor candidate nicknamed Minah DVD.
Some say its a new attempt to gauge whether or not the BN and UMNO paraphenilia seems to enrage voters and should BN be campaigning with independents ( the all politics is local argument), others hypothesize thats it a safe way for the PM to make a wager, profitting if the 'BN-friendly Independent' wins and not taking the flak otherwise.
Of course, that holds true if the margins are respectable.
When the PKR candidate thumps the "BN friendly independent" by a margin of 88% to 6%, the notion of a respectable showing goes flying out of the window.
The Rembau Times projects PKR to get around 6,500 votes and Minah DVD to get below 500.
